Intermolecular Forces Overview Worksheet

The document lists 10 molecules and identifies the strongest intermolecular force for each one. For nonpolar molecules like hydrogen, carbon monoxide, silicon tetrafluoride, methane, and benzene, the strongest force is London dispersion forces. For polar molecules like carbon monoxide, nitrogen tribromide, and acetone, the strongest force is dipole-dipole forces. Molecules that are able to form hydrogen bonds, like water, ammonia, and methanol, have hydrogen bonding as the strongest intermolecular force.
