of the school districts student achievement goals.

Accepts and demonstrates responsibility for creating a classroom culture that supports
the learning of every student.

I choose this artifact to show:

_____ Growth in the standard

__x__ Strength and competency in the standard

Description of the artifact and how it meets the standard and criteria:

The first two documents below are sections of a math test that I created as a modified
version of the general education test, which is shown below the differentiated version.
Both tests cover the same concepts and skills but the differentiated test is shorter and
does not contain as many word problems. The students that I work with struggle in the
area of math and many have IEP goals in the area of reading too. My differentiated test
supports the learning of my students by allowing them to show me what they know in a
concise format with limited amounts of reading. Students are still working towards
building and district goals but are given additional support in their learning.

Reflection on the artifact:

In the world of special education, differentiation is a daily and vital part of my job. It is
very important for me to be able to take the middle school curriculum and make it
accessible to students at every level. I modify tests on a weekly basis for several
content areas. Many of my students are able to meet high levels of learning but just
need a more concise or modified test to show their learning. I believe this artifact shows
my competency in this standard because I am able to effectively support the learning of
all my diverse students.
