Lesson Objective:
Teach Content: School counselors will ask the students to show off their costumes and
explain why they want to be in the career they chose. After exploring
their chosen careers, community partners will briefly explain their
careers. The community partners may have short activities or
demonstrations for the students to observe or participate in.
Practice Content: Students will then draw a picture (k-3) and write a summary (4-5) on
their favorite career that was presented during the presentation of
community partners.
Summarize/Close: School counselors will summarize the different careers that have been
presented and explain the importance of thinking of your future early.
School counselors and students will thank the community partners for
their presentations.
Data Collection Plan – For multiple lessons in a unit, complete this section only once for the unit.
Participation Data Plan:
Anticipated number 99; Students will be broken into groups to watch the presentation. K-3 rd
of students: will watch as a group and 4-5th will watch as a group.

ASCA Student Standards and student learning objectives.

4. I learned about a new career that I think I would enjoy.

Follow-Up Plans
Explain your plan for students who missed the lesson.
- Meet with the students as a small group and provide handouts and pictures of the
event. Speak with these students about the importance of choosing a career early in life
and the benefits.
Explain your plan for students who did not demonstrate mastery on the pre-/post-assessment
of student standards (M&B)/student learning objectives.
- Meet with students once a month to discuss their interests and work on making the
connection between their interest and possible future career.
