TILLY: Hi Tom! Hi Florence!
TOM AND FLORENCE: Hi Tilly!
TILLY: Look! The new school timetables.
TOM: Oh great!
FLORENCE: Look! Weve got Art on
Friday, at half past two.
TILLY: When do you study Spanish, Tom?
TOM: I study Spanish on Wednesday.
FLORENCE: We havent got Spanish on
Wednesday. Weve got Spanish on
Thursday.
TOM: Whens Science?
FLORENCE: Weve got Science on
Monday, at quarter to ten and youve
got Science on Friday, at one oclock.
TILLY: Hello, Miss Howard!
MISS HOWARD: Hello Tilly!
FLORENCE: Are you OK?
MISS HOWARD: No, Im not. I dont
know where to go!
TOM: Its easy, Miss Howard. Look, are
you blue or green?
MISS HOWARD: Blue.
FLORENCE: Youve got English now and
Music at quarter past eleven.
TILLY: And youve got P.E. tomorrow at
one oclock.
TOM: And youve got I.C.T. on Friday, at
quarter to ten.
MISS HOWARD: OK. Thanks everyone!
TOM: Miss Howard! Its that way!
Unit 1 CLIL: The School Year
TILLY: Hey Florence, are you back from
your holiday?
FLORENCE: Yes, what a great holiday!
I wonder if children in other countries
have the same school days and the
same holidays as us?
TOM: We start school at nine oclock and
finish at three oclock in the UK.
TILLY: Is that China? What time do they
start school in China?
TOM: Yes, look. They are going to
school. In China, school starts at half
past seven in the winter
FLORENCE: and at half past eight in
the summer. Look, thats the Chinese
New Year. In the UK, New Year is the
1st of January but Chinese New Year
is in February. Children get a weeks
holiday for that.
FLORENCE: We get holidays at Christmas.
TILLY: Look, they are having their
Christmas dinner.
TOM: We get holidays at Easter, too.
FLORENCE: Those children are enjoying
an Easter egg hunt.
TOM: Look, this school is in France.
FLORENCE: Do they have a summer
holiday in France?
TILLY: Yes, they have eight weeks. We

TOM: This is a Hindu festival called
Diwali. Its a festival of lights. Children
get a holiday.
FLORENCE: Its really beautiful!
TILLY: Lots of different holidays at
different times of the year.
Unit 2 Lost!
MISS HOWARD: Are you OK, children?
TOM: Well ...
MISS HOWARD: Where are you going?
TILLY: Im going to the library.
FLORENCE: Me too.
TOM: I want to go to the library and the
caf.
ALL: Oh!
TILLY: Thank you. Yes.
MISS HOWARD: Go straight on, past the
bank, and the museum. Look for the
town hall and turn left. The library is
next to the fire station.
TOM: Past the bank, past the town hall
and left at the museum.
FLORENCE: No. Straight on, past the
bank, past the museum. Look for the
town hall and turn left.
TOM: And wheres the caf?
MISS HOWARD: Near the library. And the
library is just here next to the fire station!
FLORENCE: Brilliant! Thanks.
MISS HOWARD: Goodbye and good luck.
ALL CHILDREN: Thanks. Goodbye!
TILLY : Here we are!
TOM: I think its closed.
TILLY, FLORENCE: Oh no!
TOM: But heres the caf. Lets get an
icecream.
TILLY, FLORENCE: Good idea!
Unit 2 CLIL: London
TOM: Hi Florence, what are you doing?
FLORENCE: Im researching a trip to
London.
TILLY: Lets look!
FLORENCE: Thats Big Ben.
TOM: I know.
FLORENCE: Whats that then?
TILLY: Its the London Eye.
TOM: I love the London Eye.
TILLY: Me too.
FLORENCE: Its very high!
TOM: Yes, it is! You can see the whole of
London from up there.
TILLY: Its really amazing at night.
FLORENCE: Its right next to the River
Thames.
TOM: Look, those people are on a boat
going down the river!
FLORENCE: Whats the bridge doing?
TOM: Its called Tower Bridge, it goes up
and down to let big ships through.
FLORENCE: Is that a train?
TILLY: Yes, its an underground train. You
can travel around London on it.
TOM: Or take a red London bus like this
one.
FLORENCE: Thats a big house.
TILLY: Thats the Queens house! Its
called Buckingham Palace.
FLORENCE: It looks very beautiful!
TOM: London is the capital of the United
Kingdom.
FLORENCE: I cant wait to go and visit!
Unit 3 Camp Adventure
FLORENCE: Camp Adventure! Wow!
TOM: That looks like great fun!
TILLY: Look! You can do everything!
Swimming, hiking, running ...
FLORENCE: You can even go windsurfing!
TOM: And sailing! Wow!
EVERYONE: Brilliant!
TOM: I love sailing!
TILLY AND FLORENCE: We love
windsurfing!
TOM: Look! Its Miss Howard!
TILLY: Whats she doing?
FLORENCE: I think shes running! Wow!

can! I love windsurfing! Its great fun!
MISS HOWARD: Yes, well! Ill see you all
at Camp Adventure.

Unit 3 CLIL: Adventure Sports
TILLY: Theyre doing adventure sports.
Great!
FLORENCE: Look, theyre in the snow and
theyre going very fast! Thats amazing!
TILLY: Thats called snowboarding. Its a
bit like skiing.
FLORENCE: Shes flying a kite. Cool, I
love kites.
TOM: Shes not just flying a kite, shes
kite skiing.
FLORENCE: Kite skiing?
TOM: Yes, look! You need a big kite and
skis.

FLORENCE: Why is she in that tree?
TOM: Shes climbing. You can go to
forests and climb up ropes into the
tree tops.
FLORENCE: You have to wear a helmet
and a harness like her.
TILLY: Look, shes swinging on that rope!
TOM: Thats called zip-lining. Its great
fun!
TILLY: That river looks very big.
FLORENCE: Hes canoeing down that
waterfall. Scary!
TILLY: He must be very strong.
TOM: And very brave.
TILLY: Id love to try some adventure
sports.
Unit 4 Shopping
TILLY: Hi Florence!
FLORENCE: Hi Tilly! Hi Tom! What are
you doing?
TILLY: This is our food shop. We want to
send 40 pounds to the rainforest charity.
TOM: We have 30 pounds, we just need
10 pounds more.
FLORENCE: OK. Im thirsty, can I have
some lemonade, please?
TILLY: Of course. Here you are.
FLORENCE: Thank you. How much is it?
TOM: Its 50 pence, please.
FLORENCE: Here you are, Tom.
TOM: Thanks.
FLORENCE: Oh, can I have a biscuit,
please?
TILLY: Here you are. Five pence, please.
TOM: Oh well, thats it, nearly time for
dinner.
DAD: Hello. Im on my way to the
supermarket. But I think youve got
everything I need here. Can I have
some cheese, please?
DAD: and can I have some bread,
please?
TOM: Here you are.
DAD: and can I have some jam,
some lemonade, some sweets, a
pineapple, some crisps, some biscuits,
some strawberries ...
FLORENCE: And a pie?
DAD: ... and a pie, yes please.
TILLY: Here you are.
DAD: How much is it, please?
CHILDREN: Thats 10 pounds, please!
DAD: Thank you.
TILLY: Now I have all the money for the
Save the Rainforest charity.
CHILDREN: Hooray!
Unit 4 CLIL: Money
TOM: I want to find out about money.
FLORENCE: Thats gold!
TILLY: Yes, its a gold bar!

TOM: In Britain, we use pounds.
FLORENCE: Thats right. We have coins
and notes.
TILLY: Look, hes buying lottery tickets.
TOM: Hes using money. You can use
cards for shopping as well.
FLORENCE: Shes using a card.
TILLY: Thats a cash machine. You can
get money out of it.
TOM: Thats right! Hes putting his card
in and typing his secret code.
TILLY: Lots of countries in Europe use
the same money.
TOM: Look! The different notes have
different pictures.
TILLY: Theyre called euros.
FLORENCE: Theyre in America. What
money do they use in America?
TOM: They use dollars and cents in
America.
FLORENCE: Different countries have
different money.
TILLY: Lots of money in all different
colours, shapes and sizes.
Unit 5 Who is it?
TOM: Lets see if you can guess the
people.
DAD: Great! I like this game. I always win.
You can help me, Florence.
TILLY: The cake can be the prize. Lets
play!
DAD: OK.
FLORENCE: Has he got blue eyes?
TOM: Yes, he has got blue eyes.
TILLY: OK. Our turn. Does he have dark
hair?
FLORENCE: No.
DAD: Has he got glasses?
TILLY: No, he hasnt got glasses.
TOM: Does he have a moustache?
FLORENCE: Yes. Has he got blonde
hair?
TOM: Yes, hes got blonde hair.
TILLY: Hmm, hes got a moustache.
TOM: Is he What about the eyes
does he have blue eyes?
DAD: Yes. Has he got a beard?
TILLY: No, he hasnt got a beard.
DAD: We know, dont we, Florence? Its
OK, dont look sad. I love cake! We
love cake. Dont we, Florence?
FLORENCE: Is it Russell?
TILLY: Yes, it is. Well done!
DAD & FLORENCE: Hooray!
FLORENCE: Dont worry we can share
the cake!
DAD: Yes, we can. Cake for everyone
hooray!
TILLY & TOM: Oh Dad!
FLORENCE: Its OK, we can still eat it.
Unit 5 CLIL: Paintings
TOM: Hi Tilly, what are you doing?
TILLY: Im doing a project on painting.
FLORENCE: Lets see what we can find
out.
FLORENCE: You can mix paint to create
different colours and you can use your
fingers or a brush to create a picture.
TILLY: Look at this painting of flowers.
The colours are very beautiful!
TOM: This is an interesting drawing. I
can see a persons face but the style is
abstract.
FLORENCE: Yes, youre right. Look at all
the strange shapes.
TILLY: This painting is called Las
Meninas. Its by a famous painter
called Velzquez.
TOM: She looks very young.
TILLY: Yes, and all those people are
helping her get dressed, I think.
FLORENCE: Maybe shes a princess.
TOM: Hes got a moustache.
TILLY: Hes holding a paintbrush. He
must be the painter of the picture.
TOM: The girls have got flowers in their
hair.
FLORENCE: They all look very serious.
TOM: Look at all the faces here. Are these
paintings by a famous painter, too?
FLORENCE: No, these are childrens
paintings. Theyre very good!
TILLY: Which do you like best, Tom?
TOM: I like the man with the glasses. He
looks funny.
FLORENCE: I like painting faces.
TILLY: I think its difficult but I like doing it.
TOM: So do I!
Unit 6 What does your dad do?
TILLY: What does your mum do,
Florence?
FLORENCE: Shes a police officer.
TILLY: Wow! Thats really interesting!
FLORENCE: Not really. She just gets
up early in the morning, eats her
breakfast, drives to work and then
comes home again.
TILLY: Right.
TOM: Does she drive a police car?
FLORENCE: No. She just talks on the
phone all day.
TILLY: What does your dad do?
FLORENCE: Hes a nurse.
TOM: Oh right! A nurse.
FLORENCE: What does your mum do,
Tilly?
TILLY: Shes a vet.
FLORENCE: Cool! What does your dad do?
TILLY: Guess!
FLORENCE: Is he a singer?
FLORENCE: No OK, hes not a singer. Is
he an actor?

firefighter?
DAD: Hi! Whats so funny?
FLORENCE: Mr Rose, whats your job?
DAD: I wake up at seven, make breakfast
at seven thirty. Then I walk to school
with Tom and Tilly, then I come back
home and sit down at my computer ...
FLORENCE: But whats your job?
DAD: My job?
TILLY: Yes Dad, your job.
TOM: Whats your job?
DAD: I stay at home, write things on my
computer, look after Tom and Tilly,
clean the house, cook the food
FLORENCE: I know! Youre a journalist!
DAD: Yes, I am. But Im also Dad.
TOM & TILLY: Youre our dad. Our
Superdad!
DAD: Yes, I am!
Unit 6 CLIL: Different Jobs
TILLY: I want to know about different jobs.
TOM: What sort of jobs?
TILLY: Thats an exciting job.
FLORENCE: Hes an astronaut.
TILLY: You have to study hard and train a
lot to be an astronaut.
TOM: Look, hes doing a space walk.
TILLY: Hes playing a computer game.
FLORENCE: Hes a computer games
designer.
TOM: Its a great job. They programme
computers and invent new games.
TILLY: Is that man a pilot?
TOM: Yes, and hes a doctor.
FLORENCE: A flying doctor.
TILLY: Where does he work?
TOM: In countries like Australia some
people live a long way from the nearest
doctor.
FLORENCE: So the doctor uses an
aeroplane to go and see them.
TOM: Cool! I want to be a flying doctor.
TILLY: And I want to be an astronaut!
Unit 7 Visit to the Castle
DAD: OK, lets look around the castle but
please be careful. Dont get lost!
TOM: Tilly, look over there!
TOM: Were here on the ground floor.
There is a really big fireplace, and
some sofas.
TILLY: Wow! This is great!
DAD: Yes but dont get lost!
TOM: Theres a toilet, and a fireplace
TILLY: ... a big bath.
TOM AND TILLY: Dad!
TOM: Stop it.
TILLY: Youre so silly all the time.
DAD: Im tired. I want to lie down for a
bit. Lets go and look for a bedroom. Is
there a bedroom on the third floor?

TOM: Look, theres a study with lots of
bookcases.
TOM: This is the third floor. Were in the
living room. Theres another fireplace,
some sofas, and some armchairs.
DAD: Tom? Tilly? Where are you? Oh no!
Im lost!
DAD: Oh no! Is it a ghost?
TOM: Boo! Dont get lost, Dad!
DAD: There you are! Lets explore together.
Unit 7 CLIL: Castles
FLORENCE: Im trying to find out about
castles. Lets look!
FLORENCE: This is where the Queen
lives. Its called Windsor Castle. Its
near London.
TOM: Wheres that one?
TILLY: Its another of the Queens castles.
Its called Balmoral.
FLORENCE: This ones in Scotland.
TILLY: Look at this one.
FLORENCE: This castle is a palace. Its
called the Alhambra. Its in Granada, in
Spain.
TILLY: Ooh, I like this castle. Its
enormous!
TOM: This is a really scary castle. Its in
Transylvania.
FLORENCE: Maybe there are ghosts in
the towers.
TILLY: I dont believe in ghosts!
TOM: Whats that?
FLORENCE: Thats a castle dungeon.
TILLY: Is there someone in there?
FLORENCE: Not now. Look, theres a suit
of armour. Its to protect you in a fight.
TOM: Look, this castle has got lots of
different rooms.
TILLY: Theyre really beautiful.
TOM: That bed is really big!
TILLY: Its called a four-poster bed. Its
very old.
FLORENCE: I like castles.
TOM: There are lots of different castles
to visit all around the world.
Unit 8 Lets Make a Video!
FLORENCE: Hey Tilly. Do you want to
play hide and seek?
TILLY: No thanks!
FLORENCE: What are you doing?
TILLY: Im playing on my games console.
FLORENCE: Hi Tom.
FLORENCE: Tom! Do you want to play
hide and seek?
TOM: No sorry, Im just listening to my
MP3 player. Have you got an MP3
player?
FLORENCE: No, I havent. I want to play
hide and seek.
TILLY: Ive got a mobile phone, so I listen
to music on that. But Im bored now.
What can we do?
FLORENCE: Play hide and seek?
TILLY: No. I want to watch a DVD but my
DVD player and my laptop are at home.
TOM: I know! Lets make a movie on
Tillys mobile phone!
FLORENCE: What?
TILLY: Thats a brilliant idea! Our own
movie!
TOM: We can email it to our mums and
dads!
TILLY: Yeah!
FLORENCE: But were outside, on
holiday in the woods. I want to play
hide and seek, not play with laptops
and mobile phones.
TOM: OK, we just switch it on and ...
MISS HOWARD: Hello, what are you
doing?
FLORENCE: Theyre trying to make a
Camp Adventure movie.
TILLY: But my mobile phone isnt working.
MISS H: Give it to me. OK. You just
switch on, unlock it, then you click
on the camera icon, then the movie
camera icon and then finally you make
your movie. Are you ready? Action!
TOM: What do we do?
MISS H: Why not play a game?
TILLY & TOM: Hide and seek?
FLORENCE: Brilliant!
Unit 8 CLIL: Technology
TOM: Im doing a school project on the
different ways people use technology.
FLORENCE: I use my mobile a lot. Its
very useful.
TILLY: Look, shes talking on her mobile
phone. Shes probably talking to her
friend.
FLORENCE: What other forms of
technology are there? Oh yes, I know
computers.
TOM: I use my computer a lot at home
and at school.
TILLY: I use my laptop to do my
homework sometimes.
TOM: Theyre using a printer to print
information from the computer, like I do.
FLORENCE: I like playing games on my
laptop.
TILLY: I usually play games on my games
console, just like these children.
TOM: This boy has got an MP3 player.
I love listening to music on my MP3
player.
FLORENCE: Me too. But I also like
reading books. With an e-reader you
can read lots of books electronically.
TILLY: My favourite electronic gadget is
my digital camera. I like taking photos,
emailing them to my friends.
TOM: Me too! There are lots of cool ways
we use technology.
