Overall aim and context of the lesson:
The aim and goal of the lesson, is to ensure that students are aware of the importance of supporting
life in the oceans that could be done through sustainable fishing and conserving water. This lesson
integrated two different subjects (Science and Mathematics) since the activity that was held
required counting and doubling. Therefore, students improved their collaboration skills because
worked together as a team in order to complete the given tasks.

Choose two aspects from the competency areas to evaluate and discuss (one paragraph
each) according to following
Firstly, discuss one aspect that YOU feel you did very well. Try to analyze why you think
it worked well and what hints you would share with other teachers about the successful
strategy/ resource/activity/management style etc.
Secondly, elaborate on the aspect identified by YOU that requires attention. Discuss what
the problem was, why it occurred and what action you intend to take to be more
successful in the next lesson.

Classroom management was the most aspect I think that I have succeeded with. This is
because, I simply announced to the students at the beginning of the lesson the classroom behavior
rules (we raise our hands before speaking and we listen carefully while the teacher is talking) and
my expectations. Therefore, I informed them the consequences behind misbehaving in which they
will not be allowed to complete the activity (fun game about fishing). Accordingly, students
behaved very well because they all wanted to play the game and collect fish as many as possible.
In addition, I reinforced their positive behavior by informing them that if they behaved well,
listened carefully and participated through out the lesson, points will be added into their Jigsaw
profile (Online behavior system). Whereas, if a certain student misbehaved the whole group will
loose a point. In such way, students will ensure that their group members behave positively in
order to be given points.
In my opinion, I would share with other teachers that in order to make students behave well,
focus on reinforcing their positive behavior instead of the negative behavior. This could be done
through, giving them golden time (playing), watching a movie or handing out simple presents for
students who are behaving well once every week.
Whereas, I think that monitoring the students learning is one important aspect that I feel
that I didnt succeed in. Some students didnt write the correct keywords in their science notebook
and some of them werent writing. This is because, I told them to write down the keywords that
were written on the white board without point at the keywords without making sure they
understood what they are supposed to do. Such thing caused confusion to the students and made
them write wrong key words.
However, this misconception could be enhanced by ensuring to point out at the keywords
that were written on the board because I should bare in mind that there are emergent students who
need guidance and support to ensure that they are on the right track. In addition, I will ensure that
I am roaming around the students tables in order to ensure that they are completing and doing the
correct information.

Personal focus for next lesson:

In my future lesson, I will ensure that I monitor students accomplishments by checking on

them while they are completing the task instead of standing in front of the classroom.
