It is located in the Andean region, southwest of the department of Cochabamba, its climate is
varied because the province includes part of the Andes, a multiplicity of ecological zones

FOUNDATION
Shortly after the independence of Bolivia's first territorial organization of the country was
established by law of 23 January 1826 which decreed that departments are divided into
provinces, and these into cantons.
