Dear Robins,
I would like to apply for the Undergraduate Internship program you advertised through your website. My
experience with science lab as intern in high school and Front End Electronic (FEE) and Antenna set up
under the guidance of Dr. Grey Taylor as well as my major in Astrophysics and Computational Math will
allow me to make immediate contribution to your lab.
My education and Research as an Lab intern and volunteer would benefit your National lab significantly.
As an Astrophysics major at University of New Mexico, I have been studying and researching nature of
the early universe and basic principle. Specially, I am helping (FEE repair and Radio computation) my
mentor Dr. Grey Taylor who is working on LWA project to explore the universe at frequencies in the
range 20-80 MHz with arcsecond level resolution and mJy level sensitivity.

I also worked as Junior Science Lab Assistant for Moonlight Academy science department where I used
to show the basic principle of the physics like Newton laws, Archimedes principle and so on. while doing
the energy conservation experiment, I asked myself if the energy can neither be created nor be destroyed
then where did they come from initially. since that time, I was interested to study about early universe and
how does it work. From your website, I see that you are currently working toward understanding cosmic
acceleration through the study of the dark energy, inflation and particle astrophysics which are the topic
of my passion. At Moonlight Academy days, I established smart science clubs in which lot of student are
working to understand the basic principle of chemistry and physics to change the education system
through experiment. Sharing is caring. With sharing intention, I started to help my junior as student tutor
in math and physics. My work experience as Science Lab Assistant to form smart science club and
knowledge sharing intention would be helpful forming such group for Los Alamos Labs in shortest
amount of time.

Finally, I would bring two other important skills to your lab; laboratories background and project monitor.
I grew up by my grandparents in religious society near terai region of Nepal. My society didnt have
electricity facilities at that time. When I was eight grades in high school, I made simple cathode and
anode system deep in cow dung and charge the battery which could be used for six hours for lighting the
100 watts bulb such that my family could to their household task in light. Similarly, I made like aerial
tramway model for mountainous region and magnetic cranes for industrial purpose which was selected as
the best model in regional science exhibition 2013. Based on laboratories knowledge, I have monitor
project like aerial tramway system, magnetic cranes, water boat and so on in high school along with
formation. My laboratories background and club formation and monitor skill would be an asset to your
operation.
Thank you for this opportunity to apply for your opening. I look forward to hearing from you about this
interesting internship. I can be contacted at cell (505)-730 5817 or sapkotasusant21@unm.edu.
Sincerely,
Susan Sapkota
