3 Personal Reflection on Strategic Leadership

Strategic leadership is considered the driver standard of the NCSSE because everything that a
school does should align with the work of the leader and the staff in developing the schools
purpose. Through shared beliefs and core values, schools can develop their own unique mission
and vision statements that are living documents that all stakeholders commit to and reference
when trying to find ways to improve the school. As a leader, I need to work to find ways to
include the voices of as many different groups within my school as possible to create a mission
and vision that everyone can commit to because they had a hand in shaping it. Upon creating
these statements and developing a set of shared values and beliefs, they should be referenced
when creating a school improvement plan and when making decisions that impact the school. I
also need to ensure that I put systems in place to hire candidates who share these values and
beliefs.
