Prior to this activity, I will give my students about five questions on addition and subtraction in
order to assess their prior knowledge. Following that, a class lesson on addition and subtraction
will be given. My students will then go into groups and work on similar problems with their
classmates. Towards the end of the lesson, I will introduce the individual work using the SRT
activity.
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
Assess prior knowledge Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) To illuminate
common misconceptions x Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of
differentiation and mastery for ALL students) x Summative assessment of content knowledge

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity: As the teacher I will provide the
questions and my students will answer them using a clicker. This activity should take about 10
minutes.
Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):
x Multiple choice x Multiple select x True/False Yes/No
x Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank Longer open-ended response

Some examples of the questions are true and false like 5+2=2+5 and multiple questions like 10+10=
A. 30 B. 10 C. 5 D. 20

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

x Yes No
Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)

Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the
questions and display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
x Yes
No
Why or why not?
Yes, because it provides my students with the correct answers, rather than have them wondering if
they responded correctly or not.

After the SRT activity, I will review the results and modify the rest of the days lesson to support
my students understanding of the content. After we review the questions, I will provide individual
work of similar questions to those answered wrong.

How will the data be used?

The work done is not for a grade, but the information from this activity will help me assess each
childs understanding of the content. As a class, we will go over all problems that were answered
incorrectly. I will use this data to create future problems to assist them in the areas where they are
still struggling. Providing both individual and group work to support them academically.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.

With this activity, I aim for the success of my students and encourage the participation of all of
them through iRespond. With iRespond, my students are given the privacy of submitting their
answers without judgement from their peers. I hope my students master this content as this
activity gives them another way to answer questions rather than raising their hand and waiting to
be called on.
