Installation

6.1 During the course of the istallation o f the conduit system. procedures k e working and
dressrig the Installation as recommended shall be employed.

6.2 Al bends and sees s h a l be i n accordance with regulation and specifications farmed w i t h
t h e aid o f a helical spring fitted intemaly. with i f necessary. the conduit warmed
sufficiently for i t to move without avoidable wal thinning of the out side of the bend.

6.3 Joints between P V C conduit t fittings shall b e made with suitable adhesive. but
expansion couplings shall be installed where any length of conchal . inclusive of draw in
boxes etc. exceeds five meters in length.

6 A C o n d u i t s i n floors shall b e routed and instaled so a s to avoid t h e fixings of floor


standing equipment to be installed on the floor.

6 . 5 T h e conduits s h a l l be adequately fixed to prevent e xc e s s i v e movement and damage


during the poumg and setting of concrete and shall be protected from mechanical
damage. Check there is n o damage before s c r e e d / concrete is pound. Unless
otherwise indicated to cast in conduits shal l not be less than 30mm.cores to plastered
over conduits shall not be less than 5mm.

6.6 Where conduits ar e left "open ended pox to wiring they shall be protected by caps or
plugs to prevent the ingress of building material.

6.7 All conduits runs must be designed to permit wring to be ready installed after the
complete erection of the conduits through the available draw-m, accessory and luminary
suspension boxes.

6.8 Where surface m o u n t e d equipment (other than laments) is specified. all concealed
conduits shal be terminated and an adaptable box installed recessed into the wall at
every surface mounted equipment position.

6.9 Where conduits pass through an external walWoof the conduit box shall be fitted on the
side and after wing filled with an inert. permanently plastic compound having a high
insulator; value.

6.12 Ensure conduits are not concealed until works has been inspected and approved.
Ensure that conduit and fittings buried in concrete or behind plaster are protected
against corrosion or electrolytic action prior to rendering.
