Often referred to as the "past" conditional PAST PERFECT + CONDITONAL PERFECT

because it concerns only past situations with
hypothetical results. Used to express a
hypothetical result to a past given situation.
Jane would have found a new job if she had
stayed in Boston.
Remember that we use had+past participle in a
similar way after I wish/If only to express that we
are sorry about something that didnt happen.
I wish/If only you had come earlier.
