CONTENT Students will be able to identify the high-frequency words at, it, and up
correctly. They will demonstrate this by dragging the correct word (on an
OBJECTIVE apple) into the basket on the FlipChart.

FOCUS Were going to play a game. Were going to split into teams and have a race!

INSTRUCTIONAL
Instruction
STEPS Show words at it up and ask students to identify each one.
Say: These apples on the board have either at, it, or up in them. In a
moment were going to line up in teams, and when I call out a word, the first
person in line is going to drag the correct apple into the basket.

Guided Practice
Say: So if I say up, which apple would this team grab from the top row?
Which apple would this team drag? Then you would drag the apple down to
the basket and go to the back of your line. Then, I will call out the next word for
the next person in line.

Independent Practice
Call out high-frequency words (at, it, up) for teams to choose on the FlipChart.

Extensions
Slides 3-5 have missing words. In teams, students may write the correct sight
words in the blank apples.

CLOSURE Say: Great job! Have a seat on the carpet. Lets read the words we put in our
basket. Were going to learn even more words next week!
