State Strategies and Resources

Select Strategies

For my blended learning activity, I selected the rotation model with station
rotations. In this model, students will rotate between whole group directed
instruction led by the teacher, small group with teacher-led instruction, and an
independent learning station with students working on their projects by utilizing
computers.

Technology and Media. This lesson will require the use of computers for students
and a Promethean Board using the Active Inspire program for whole group
teacher led instruction. The Promethean Board will be used to introduce how to
make and navigate through making a Power Point. The computers will be used
for students to create their own Power Point during small group and
independent stations. Students will be expected to independently navigate
through Power Point and create their own project. In order to determine the
appropriateness of my technology and media selections, I used the following
guidelines:

Alignment with standards, outcomes, and objectives. The students notes used
to create the Power Point projects are aligned with current 3rd grade Social
Studies standards and objectives.
Accurate and current information. Information is accurate.
Age-appropriate language. All programs and content for the Power Point
projects are age-appropriate for my 3rd grade students.
Interest level and engagement. Creating a Power Point is highly engaging for
students of elementary age.
Technical quality. The Power Point processing program has very good technical
quality.
Ease of use. The Power Point processing program is very user friendly.
Bias free. All media types used are bias free.
User guide and directions. Students are guided and taught how to create a
Power Point project step by step. Students can ask each other or the teacher for
help if any technical difficulties arise.

Select Materials
In my lesson, I will begin with modeling before the project begins. I will provide
the students with a rubric to help guide them through the process of creating a
Power Point. Students will also have access to their notes on Native Americans to
use as a guide for the slide content. I will also provide the school laptop cart for
student use throughout the assignment.
