Here's what we're learning this week:

Reading: This week we will enjoy reading some Christmas themed books.

Phonics: Introducing beginning R blends and syllabication.

Turn over for more information


Writing: Beginning to research and find information about their chosen topic.

Grammar: Shades of meaning; words used to describe a noun that vary in intensity. Ex.
good, delicious, scrumptious!

Math: Working on teen addition strategies, adding doubles, and further exploration into
place value.

Social Studies/Science: Beginning to discuss what we know about economics.

Other news:

Book Exchange: Please have your book wrapped and labeled for a boy or girl by
Wednesday, December 20. This will give me time to get books for the kids who were
not able to purchase a book for our classroom book exchange.
Community Action House Donations: First grade is in charge of collecting whole grain
pasta and brown rice. Donations can be brought in anytime before December 21.

Dec. 21- 1st grade, grade-wide party
