Social Injustice Inquiry Project


The amazing thing about Social Studies is that you get to be a detective and solve mysteries
about the past and present. You can travel to various places and times in the comfort of your
arm chair. You can discover what has happened before and try to prevent it in the future or to
make amends in the present.
Students are to do research into one of the Social Injustices listed occurring in Canada and
around the world (no more than five to one Social Injustice). Students are to look up the
following information. What is the Social Injustice? Who is affected by the injustice and How
are they affected by it? Where is this Social Injustice occurring and When has it occurred? Why
is this Social Injustice happening?
There must be statistics (charts and graphs) and illustrations (pictures and/or drawings) to help
display the information. Each question must be answered in paragraph form and have no less
than one paragraph (more than five sentences long).
You must use at least two books and two internet sites to gather your information. Students
must list their references. (Wikipedia is not a reliable source)
