Sura Takwir (or The Folding Up))

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

The Sura opens with a series of highly mystical verses giving a graphic
description of the disintegration of the environment. It shall be the time when
nature’s processes as we know them will cease to function. The sun will be
folded up, the stars rendered opaque and the mountains vanish like a mirage. It
shall be the time when the pregnant she-camels shall be left unattended, the
beasts herded together in human habitations and the oceans shall be on fire.

The people (good and bad) shall be sorted out into groups. The infant
girl buried alive shall ask as to which offence of her she was buried alive? The
scrolls recorded there-in the deeds of men, good or bad, will then be laid open.
Entirely a new world containing Paradise and Hell, shall appear and will
receive its people. At that time, every soul shall reap the fruits of its actions
which it committed here on earth.

Then on oath by the stars, the gathering night and the bursting forth of
the morning, Allah asserts that Quran was revealed by Him through Archangel
Gabriel, an honourable Messenger, to Muhammad (SA), who was not a
possessed man. The Qur-an is the admonition for the Worlds, for such among
you who desire to proceed straight and you shall not desire it unless it is
desired by Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. That is Allah may change the course
of life of a human being, if the latter develops respectability for guidance. The
Sura concludes with the familiar warning of the dreadful punishment in the
Hereafter to those who deny the truths of the resurrection, the Divine source of
the Quran and the apostleship of Muhammad (SA).
