Sura Al-Qariah (or The Disaster)

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

The Sura presents a scenario of some of the events to take place on the
Day of the Judgement. It shall be the day of noise and disaster when the
present order of things will be overthrown with a tremendous convulsion.
All the landmarks on the earth will be destroyed and the human beings after
resurrection shall be disarrayed like moths. Moths are frail light things which
are seen scattered about in a violent storm. This gives an idea of confusion,
distress and helplessness in which the human beings shall find themselves
surrounded.

Given this scenario, a Balance of Justice will weigh and appraise all
deeds of every individual. Those whose good is heavy will achieve an ever-
lasting life of pleasure and satisfaction in Paradise. While those whose good
will be light will find themselves in a blazing fire of Hell.

The Sura says: The disaster What is the Disaster? What should make
you know what the Disaster is? It is the Day when people shall be like the
scattered moths and the mountains shall be like the carded wool. Then whose
weight of good deeds is more will have a pleasant life while whose bad weighs
more then his place shall be in an inferno – the blazing fire.
