I love them if they have a happy ending afterwards, sad scenes that you can relate to can really make
you feel something and you can relate to the characters, they make you think.

I adore watching sad scenes, when carried out successfully and with significant build up/reasoning
watching other people at their lowest is an incredible way to empathise and affect an audiences
emotional response, even if they're aware it's total fiction.

What a poorly worded question. Do I empathise with a character once I have got to know them in a
piece or drama? Depends if the plot is predictable. If character is ill and is going to die then no as
that is obvious and cheap

Yes, sad scenes often help connect the viewer with a character, or characters. Tragedy helps bring
the audience to empathise with a character and relate their experiences to the scene.
