INT. KITCHEN. MORNING:

Jolene is in the kitchen cooking breakfast for herself and Ebony. She is talking to Jack
on the phone who is away at war.

JOLENE

What so her mum as just kicked her out?

(She listens to the phone and shakes her head)

That’s terrible. And shes on the train now?

(She listens to the phone again)

Well what time will she arrive in Reading?

(Shocked reaction)

10am?!

For goodness sake, I’ll just have to ring in sick to go and meet her.

Right, okay.

Yes don’t worry it’ll be fine.

Love you too.

(She puts the phone down and looks into the distance)

(Fade to black)

INT. KITCHEN. MORNING:

Jolene and Ebony are sat eating breakfast together.

JOLENE

I had Jack on the phone this morning

EBONY

(Looks up in interest awkwardly)

Oh, did you? What did he say?

JOLENE

His daughter Ella has been kicked out by

her mum.

EBONY
I’m not surprised, from what Jack’s said she
sounds very spoilt.

JOLENE

I don’t think that’s the case. It must be hard

for her having a Dad in the army. Anyway,
because she’s been kicked out of home
and she needs somewhere to stay.

EBONY

Okay… But why do I need to know all this?

I’ve never even met her!

JOLENE

I know you haven’t. I’m telling you because

she’s on the train to Reading now. And
she’ll be living with us from 10am this
morning!

EBONY

What?! There’s no room, where will she

sleep?

JOLENE

It will be fine. For the time being she’ll have

to go in your room with you.

EBONY

No way am I sharing room! Especially with

someone I don’t know!

(Ebony gets up and walks towards the

door)

JOLENE

Come on Ebony, don’t be stupid. She’s

family

EBONY

(Ebony stood in the doorway, shouts)

No she isn’t. She’s Jacks daughter and

that’s all she’ll ever be!

(Ebony walks out of the kitchen and slams

the door behind her)
EXT. READING STATION. AFTERNOON

Jolene waits nervously outside the station for Ella. Ella walks out of the station doors
looking around for Jolene.

JOLENE

(Jolene spots Ella, waves and shouts)

Ella! Ella!

ELLA

(Looks at Jolene and walks towards her)

JOLENE

(Hugs Ella)

Hello sweetie, how are you? I’m Jolene, your

Dad’s girlfriend.

ELLA

Hi. I’m okay thanks.

JOLENE

Lovely. Let me take these bags for you.

ELLA

Oh, thank you!

JOLENE

(Links arms with Ella and they walk away)

(Audio gets quieter as it goes on)

Just so you know, my daughter Ebony lives

with us and you’ll be sharing a room with her
for a while. She’s a little nervous about a new
girl moving in as she’s used to being the only
child. She can come across as quite
intimidating but don’t let her upset you! Just
be yourself and be friendly and you’ll be
fine.

(Conversation continues but audio muffled)

INT. HALLWAY. AFTERNOON

JOLENE
 Here we are then. If you just leave your shoes
down there, I’ll start cooking tea.

ELLA

Okay. Where can I put my stuff?

JOLENE

Oh, sorry. If you go up the stairs and turn right,

you’ll come to Ebony’s room. Which of course,
is now also your room. Just put your things in
there.

ELLA

Great. Is Ebony up there?

JOLENE

No, she’s still at school. Just go and make

yourself at home.

ELLA

Thank you!

(Ella runs up the stairs)

INT. HALLWAY. AFTERNOON

(Ebony walks in from school).

EBONY

(She shouts to her mum)

Hello, I’m home

JOLENE

(Quiet audio as sound is coming from another room)

Did you have a good day?

EBONY

(She takes her black shoes off and spots a pair of bright pink shoes. She pulls an
angry face, moves them, and puts her shoes there instead).

Yeah it was alright.

(She then walks up the stairs, turns right and walks into her bedroom)

INT. EBONY’S BEDROOM. EVENING

Ella is sat on Ebony’s bed, surrounded by teddys. She is painting her nails listening to
girly music.

EBONY

(She opens her bedroom door, looks up

at the bed and shouts)

What the hell do you think you’re

doing?

ELLA

Sorry, I was just painting my nails.

EBONY

Yeah, I can see that. Why are you

doing it on my bed?

ELLA

Oh, um sorry. I thought we were sharing

the bed because it’s a double.

EBONY

(Laughs sarcastically)

No! You’re on the floor love. This is my

room, be grateful I’ve even let you in
here!

ELLA

Oh okay sorry.

(She grabs her pink fluffy pillows and

her blanket and lays them on the floor).

EBONY

Yeah and you can take this shit with

you

(She chucks her teddie’s at her on the

floor).

ELLA

Be careful with those please!

EBONY

(She mumbles under her breath)

 What is she? A four year old?

(Ebony sits on her bed, puts her

headphones in and plays on her
phone).

ELLA

What are you listening to?

EBONY

(Takes a headphone out of her ear)

What?

ELLA

I said, what are you listening to?

EBONY

Music

(She puts her headphone back in,

shakes her head and carries on playing
on her phone)

( Ella stands up, and starts unpacking

her things. She pulls out a box. Ebony
takes her headphones out quickly, gets
up and snatches the box from Ella)

EBONY

Don’t touch that, it’s not yours.

ELLA

I’m just having a look, don’t worry

(She snatches it back)

(They squabble over the box until it falls

on the floor, and the contents is
scattered across the floor)

ELLA

What’s that?

(She sees a picture frame with a soldier

in it. The face is covered in lipstick
stains)

EBONY
 Don’t you dare. I said to leave it alone!

ELLA

(She picks the photo frame up and

wipes away the stains. It reveals her
Dad’s face)

What the hell! Why have you got this!

EBONY

I just do okay. Just give it back and get

out of my room!

ELLA

No way. Not until you explain why you

have a photo of my Dad covered in
lipstick marks!

EBONY

It’s just a joke that’s all

ELLA

I don’t think its funny. To be honest I

think it’s pretty messed up

EBONY

Well I’m sorry, it’s not my fault that I

think your dad’s fit!

ELLA

(Her mood splits and she is raging)

You what!

(Ella runs at Ebony and pushes her. Ebony falls on her bed. Ella grabs a teddy off the
floor and starts hitting Ebony with it)

EBONY

(Screams out in pain)

Stop please! It was just a joke!

ELLA

No! Not until you apologise!

(She carries on hitting Ebony)

You’re sick. You’re messed up!

You’re a disgusting little emo!
 (Fade to black)

Time lapse of various events where the girls are obviously arguing, and Ebony
becomes jealous of how close her mum and Ella are getting. (Music playing over the
top).

- Girls shopping together and judging each other’s outfits.

- Ella and Jolene singing in the car, Ebony sat in the back looking jealous
- Ella and Ebony squabbling over the TV remote
- Ella doing a photo shoot, and Jolene supporting her and keeping Ebony out
of the way.

EXT. STREET. AFTERNOON

Ebony is staring straight into the camera with a blank facial expression

EBONY

(Voiceover creepy voice)

Finally I had enough. I did it, and She got what

she deserved.

(Ella’s lifeless body lies on the road in front of a car)

step-mum-to-be of Ella.
Jolene is a middle aged
woman who works in an
office. She is quite girly and
gets on well with Ella. She will
only feature in a few scenes
in this film, so I feel as though
I am able to do this small role
to save bringing in another
actress for such short scenes.

As we are filming outside, the lighting will
depend entirely on the time of day we
are filming.
We will be filming at the train station and
around town in the afternoon/early
evening. We will not be filming in the
dark so the lighting should not be an
issue.

The town is often very busy all the time, Luckily the footage we are filming in
therefore it is usually very nosiy town of the time lapse sequence will
have no audio from the actual recording

There will be no power sockets available I will have to ensure all my equipment is
in town charged prior to filming

Contingency Plan
Below is the contingency plan I put together. I decided to have back up
actors and locations for all the actors and settings in the film. This was good to
have because it took the pressure off me knowing that I had things to fall
back on if everything went wrong
