​ As we are entering our last
few months here of the
2017-2018 school year, grades
must keep getting improved,
work hard to pass your
classes. In February, we have
a major event coming up early
on in the month, Dining Out.
This event will be on the 10th
of February, it’s a fun night to
spend with the battalion,
memories made here will last a
lifetime. Tickets are $12 for
cadets and $15 for
guests/alumni. Last month on
the 13th, the battalion attended
the MLK Parade, it was an
excellent turnout with us
merging with Magnolia HS!

Loyalty
​Within the United States
Army, comes a series of seven
values. In February, we will be
focusing on Loyalty. Now
before we start with anything,
what exactly is loyalty? Is it the
same as a dog’s loyalty, or the
bond that you share with
someone else, refusing to let
them take the heat alone? The
definition of loyalty means
differs from people to people.
How you perceive loyalty, is
solely up to you. To me, loyalty
is the undivided obedience to a
certain subject, whatever it may
be. During the hardship we all
suffer from every now and then,
the loyalty of our peers and
family is what keeps us stable.
When someone you know gets
into a conflict, the first thought
you have is to get them out of
there, regardless of what
danger lies ahead. Loyalty just
doesn’t mean the will to go help
out your friend in need, it could
also mean that you are willing
to accept any order given to
you by your commanding
officer, boss, or just a superior
in general. Loyalty has multiple
meanings, all has an impact on
who you are. By implementing
loyalty into your daily routine,
you, without a doubt, will
become one of the finest
human beings to ever walk on
this earth.
BATTALION S-1 
Every month will consist of a
staff member explaining what their
job is and how they got there. For
February, the S-1 is first, since the
position is called “S-1”.  Each month, one cadet will be

​ Hello Knights,
I am Jesus A. Valencia, your
Battalion S-1. My job is
basically accountability of
everyone in the battalion.
Everywhere that we go as a
group such as field trips or
competitions, I make sure that
we have everyone that is going
and everyone back from the
event. Also, I do promotions
and awards. I make sure that
each cadet gets promoted to
the rank that they deserve and
awarded for their actions. One
of my main jobs as S-1 is
working on JUMS which is a
database of all the cadets in the
battalion where all of their
records are stored. Most
cadets think that in order to be
in a Staff position, you must be
an assistant first, however that
is not always the case. I was
given this position by the end of
my LET 2 year because I pay
attention to detail when it
comes to how the uniform
should be worn as well of
knowledge of the order of
ribbons and other awards. My
job is a stressful job, but in the
getting what they deserve.

CADET OF THE MONTH 
ALPHA COMPANY 
 
highlighted, handpicked by their
company command, that certain
cadet will be mentioned in the
article for that month. For the
month of February, since Alpha is
the first in the phonetic alphabet,
that company was the first to leave
a mark on how future cadet of the
months will be performed
c/CPT Virginia Macias
Alpha’s Cadet of the Month
was selected by Alpha
Commander and the First
Sergeant. Out of their
company, they selected c/SGT
Juarez. The reasons that
Alpha Command chose her is
that she is a hard working
student that studies and always
asks how she can improve.
She always attempts to perform
her best so she, one day, can
be the best. Cadet Juarez
knows most of her general
knowledge and more than
some of the LET 4’s do,
according to Alpha Command.
Juarez always goes on the
website to study and improve
her knowledge about the
program. She is a strong
hearted cadet that loves and
respects the program. Cadet
Juarez also has the intention of
being enrolled within the
program for her four years in
high school because she really
enjoys the program.
