Section A : Directed Writing

[35 marks]
[Time suggested : 45 minutes]

You find some matters in school unsatisfactory. As a concerned student, write a report to
the principal about the matters and give suggestions for improvement.

In your report, include the following:

 sport facilities

- lack of equipment

- field in bad condition

 poor service of canteen

- unfriendly workers

– not many choices of food

 motorcycle/bicycle shed - too small

 classrooms - not conducive for learning

- some fans not working

- worn-out whiteboards

 Suggestion for improvement 1 (own idea)

 Suggestion for improvement 2 (own idea)

When writing the report, you must:

 address the report to the principal

 give the title of the report
 write your name
 use all the notes given
 give your own ideas when needed

Note :
For your report, you will receive up to 15 marks for the format and content points
and up to 20 marks for the quality of your writing.

Section B: Continuous Writing

[ 50 marks ]

[Time suggested : One hour]

Write a composition of about 350 words on one of the following topics.

1 Describe a visit to a night market and how you felt about it.

2 Building a nation is important to one’s country. How can teenagers contribute towards
this?

3 Having a Facebook account is beneficial for school students. What do you think?

4 Write a story about an unexpected incident that happened to you during a holiday trip
and how it affected you.

Begin your story with:

“It was 6.30 in the morning. Everyone in the family was busy preparing for the trip …”

5 What are the benefits of having many friends?
