PART I
INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background
A college is a scientific institution tries to produce graduates of high
caliber, professional, dedicated, truthful spirited, and have a good sense in terms
of capturing the various changes taking place in society and the environment. In
the era of utilization of qualified human resources, students as the next generation
, the assets of development, are not only involved in the college environment, but
also to be able to overcome and understand the solutions to the problems that exist
within the public or in any agencies.
Internship is a means of students to see the real work after lectures. Practice
field is one of the compulsory subjects and it has 3 credit points. The form of this
field work activity requires students to be able to go straight to the field, so
gaining an experience in integrating theory and practice in order to get the best
solutions to problems and can solve them systematically.
In addition, students are expected to study related knowledge more deeply and
finally have a high sensitivity to the development of technology and existing
problems. Students are also expected to increase their knowledge and expand
their views about science and technology, especially related to academic
professionalism and dedication to the community and the environment.
TOTAL E&P Indonesie is an international company engaged in the energy
and chemical manufacturing operations, especially in the field of oil and gas
industry. TOTAL E&P Indonesie formerly known as the Francaise du
PetroleCampaigne (CFP) has been operating in Indonesia since the mid-1968
under the Production Sharing Contract (PSC) with oil and gas company owned by
the government, Pertamina. The first exploration exploration of oil in Jambi,
MuaraTebo but the exploration did not produce any results.
Since 1971, TOTAL E&P Indonesie is collaborated with Inpex.The first
exploration in the Mahakam in East Borneo, which produces the most productive
oil and gas in Indonesia, which brings Total become the largest gas producer in

Indonesia. In East Borneo. Total produces around 80% of all gas production to be
delivered to Bontang. Since it has been operating in Indonesia for almost 45 years,
Total has been one part of the Indonesian oil and gas exploration and production.
TOTAL E&P Indonesie, has to maintain good relations with the Indonesian
government on the basis of mutual interest to provide fossil energy for the
Indonesian people.
During the operations, especially in the Mahakam delta, Total has discovered
several oil and gas fields. Starting from an offshore oil field Bekapai in 1972,
followed by the discovery of oil fields Handil and Tambora in 1983, and the
discovery of the gas field Sisi/Nubi in late 1986.
In 1976, the loading terminal and oil storage area was founded in Senipah.
After that, in 1982, TOTAL E&P Indonesie made an agreement with Pertamina to
distribute natural gas, and did the first gas delivery to Bontang in the same year.
Until 2008 the oil and gas field has been found to produced oil and gas.
The implementations of science that existed at the TOTAL E&P Indonesie
much related to the science that we are studying, is concentration Geophysics
Department of Physics. Where Geophysics itself is basically highly correlated
with the performance of TOTAL E&P Indonesie.
Therefore, I apply for the Internship TOTAL E&P Indonesie Balikpapan

1.2 Vision and Mission Activity

Vision:
As part of the Faculty of Mathematics and Science of Mulawarman
University, Implementation of the Internship by the concentration of
Geophysics Physics Studies Program, has a vision of an integrated
implementation of international quality Geophysics science based knowledge
of the most cutting-edge developments. Faculty of Mathematics and Science
of University of Mulawarman tries to be a determiner of the development of
science and its application in relation to various aspects in the field.

Mission University of Mulawarman:

1. To carry out research activities and Implementation of integrated science in
a creative and innovative, which guided by the values and norms that
apply to society is recognized and supported by the disclosure in a
conducive academic atmosphere.
2. To make students have cognitive abilities, a high work ethic, attitude and
behavior that is responsible and always uphold the truth so take on the
challenges of the future requirements will change and sophistication.
3. To contribute to the development, Implementation and dissemination of
knowledge through the Implementation of geophysical sciences as well as
science and technology play an active role in solving various problems
relating to natural resources for the benefit of the people of Indonesia,
especially in the field of energy exploration.
4. To provide the development of science education in the College of
Geophysics and complements the concept of a curriculum that
corresponds to the public.

1.3 Target Activity

In response to these challenges, the concentration of Geophysics Physics
Studies Program of Mulawarman University has put together a program of
activities Internship with the aim to produce students with the characteristics:
1. Ability to apply knowledge gained in the college that really need and
development insight and working knowledge and experience in the
workplace.
2. Have character and personality of a man of science and academic, who
wants to know and wants to go forward, environmentally awareness and
sensitivity to necessary of the Indonesian people about the environment.
3. Having knowledge and skill in various fields of physics (geophysics), and
have a basic knowledge of other sciences related to the science and
supported knowledge, to be able to solve various problems in public.
4. Ability to communicate scientific and able to develop themselves further to

face the rapid development of science and technology that have been and
will be implemented in the community, so can compete in the global
market.
5. Applying knowledge in better ways in research and analysis of existing
data within the company to solve the problems that exist in the world of
enterprise.

CHAPTER II
METHOD OF ACTIVITIES INTERNSHIP

2.1 Time and Place

The implementation of the activities carried out in accordance with the
curriculum of Internship in Mulawarman University and well adapted to the time
available in the TOTAL E&P Indonesie, site of the activities of Internship. It is
expected that the Internship activity can last for 8 weeks starting from the month
of Juny – August 2015 and took place at TOTAL E&P Indonesie.

2.4 Guidance and Supervision

The practice of field work Programs activities need the presence of adequate
guidance, and the cooperation between the staffs from corporate environment. It
becomes important in guiding students’ activities program Internship that can be
done well. In this condition, the staff from the company acts as a mentor or
supervision during the implementation internship.

2.5 Goals
The goals of this form of guidance over on TOTAL E&P Indonesie,
Balikpapan in East Kalimantan are:
1. Experiencing how the general working procedures in TOTAL E&P
Indonesie.
2. Experiencing how data collection being processed in compliance of
TOTAL E&P Indonesie requirement.
3. Practicing how the process information data output and formulating
conclusion.

CHAPTER III
CLOSING
3.1 Conclusion
Internship program is a path to help student using their knowledge gained in
college to apply it into the real professional world. Internship activity will give
student different issue and introduce them how to work in a professional
viewpoint which could enhance their experience.
By carrying out the internship activities, hence, it could improve quality of
students. It is also expected to establish a good cooperation between Total E&P
Indonesie and Mulawarman University, in order to support future internship
activities which is held periodically.
I submit this proposal including my curriculum vitae to be considered. If there
is anything that does not match to the schedule, then this proposal could be
adapted according to the agreement. Please do not hesitate to contact me if there
