One Potato, Two Potato Counting


Grade Kindergarten

Length of Lesson 45 minutes

Lesson Students will be able to count the number of objects put in front
Overview/Rationale of them, and write that number. Students will be paired in
groups of two.

things arranged in a line, a rectangular array, or a circle, or as
many as 10 things in a scattered configuration; given a number

them

Materials  Toy Potatoes


 Dry erase board
 Dry erase markers

Procedure  Teacher will present the video “One Potato, Two Potato”
via YouTube on a projector
 Students will be paired into groups of two
 Each group will count the number of potatoes they are
given and write it on a dry erase board
 One student will count the potatoes
 One student will write the number down
 Each group will count and present their dry erase board in
front of the class

Assessment  I checked to see if each student is understanding the


activity by walking around the class listening to them
count their objects.
 Each group will also be evaluated on their dry erase board
and the way they present their dry erase board to the class.
