For relevant approvals, please contact Geberit Product Management – Piping, or alternatively
refer to the Geberit Drainage Systems Installation Guide.

1.1. Geberit HDPE Soil and Waste Drainage Pipe

Available in metric sizes 40mm - 315mm. Geberit HDPE should be all installed in
accordance with BS EN 12056 Part 2 - ‘Gravity Drainage Systems Inside Buildings’, and
covered by BBA Certificate No. 92/2796.
Recommended applications are soil and waste, siphonic and gravity rainwater and
chemical drainage.

1.1.1. Pipe Characteristics

All pipes are manufactured from High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), black in colour,
with a minimum of 2% carbon black to prevent UV degradation.
Pipes are tempered to reduce the risk of shortening (reversion) from high temperature
discharges. The pipe is manufactured to EN 1519.

1.2. Geberit HDPE Fittings

Available in metric sizes 32mm -315mm. Geberit HDPE should be all installed in
accordance with BS EN 12056 Part 2 - ‘Gravity Drainage Systems Inside Buildings’, and
covered by BBA Certificate No. 92/2796. The fittings are manufactured to EN 1519.

2.4. Chemical Resistance

Geberit HDPE pipe and fittings are resistant to a wide range of chemicals from pH0 to
pH14.
For further information, please refer to the Geberit Drainage Systems Installation Guide.

3. Installation
The system shall be installed all in accordance with Geberit’s installation recommendations,
and be compliant with current building regulations.
For further information, refer to the Geberit Drainage Systems Installation Guide.

3.1. Cutting and Preparation

Geberit HDPE pipes and fittings should be cut with an appropriate pipe-cutter or saw.
Prior to welding, the two prepared ends must be square and true and de-burred.

3.2. Tooling

3.2.1. Butt Welding

By hand - 40mm to 75mm
MEDIA Machine with appropriate peripherals - 40mm through to 160mm
UNIVERSAL Machine with appropriate peripherals – 40mm through to 315mm

3.2.2. Electro-Welding

ESG 40/200 110V 40mm - 160mm
ESG – T2 Starter Switch 240V 200mm - 315mm
(Advanced Welding machine to be announced)

Prior to Electro-welding, the pipe end must be prepared. Refer to the Geberit
Drainage Systems Installation Guide for details.

3.3. Expansion
Expansion joints must be provided at a maximum of 6 metre intervals and/or changes in
direction more than a metre apart, unless bending legs are positioned to allow thermal
movement. For further information refer to the Geberit Drainage Systems Installation
Guide.

3.3.1.Rigid Installation
Thermal expansion can be contained within the material itself due to its high elasticity
when buried into a solid medium such as concrete. For further information please
refer to the Geberit Drainage Systems Installation Guide.

3.4. Brackets
Brackets should be provided to allow support and to control the directional movement of
thermal expansion.
Brackets shall not inadvertently anchor a system that is designed to expand.
Refer to the Geberit Drainage Systems Installation Guide for full details.

3.5. Fire Protection

Pipes that penetrate through fire compartments must have fire sleeves built in, in
accordance with BS EN 1366-3 2009 and Building Regulations Part B. Geberit Fire
protection sleeves, or equivalent, should be provided on all pipe sizes at 56mm and
above where necessary.

4. Testing
The work shall be inspected and tested during installation. All work which will be concealed
shall be tested before it is finally enclosed. A final test shall be made upon completion for
soundness and performance in accordance with BS EN 12056 Code of Practice for Sanitary
pipe-work.

All completed Soil & Waste systems to be air tested to a minimum of 38mm water gauge over
3 minutes with no pressure drop.

5. Storage of Geberit HDPE pipes

Geberit HDPE pipes should be stored on level ground or supports at a maximum of 1 metre
centres. If being stored for a long period of time, or if long exposure to sunlight is expected,
piping should be covered with opaque sheeting.
