Tips to Teacher: This is a great out-of-class assignment that encourages the students to apply the information that

they have learned about the brain. Guide the students to choose celebrities that can positively represent the areas of
the human brain; many students have a tendency to go over the top and may choose questionable subjects.

Celebrity Brains

Now that we have covered the major parts of the brain in class, your assignment is to apply that
knowledge to “real life.”

1. Choose a celebrity whose character, personality, or actions represent the function of a

part of the brain. (Ie: Kelly Rippa (of Regis and Kelly) represents a damaged right
temporal lobe, which causes a person to talk non-stop)
2. Find a picture of the person; you may want to look in magazines.
3. Attach the picture to a full sheet of paper.
4. On the back of the paper, write a paragraph description of the area of the brain that you
are analyzing. Be certain to include the functions of the region and what happens if it is
damaged. Also write a paragraph that explains how the celebrity on the front represents
that portion of the brain. (Do not forget to put your name on the back.)
5. The next time we meet in class, we will share the Celebrity Brains.
