Target Games Workshop

Target games are activities in which players project an object towards a specific target/end. The focus of target
games is to educate and engage players on the different techniques used in game play. In a target game, the participant
practices accuracy by projecting objects at varying distances. These games help players in achieving a better
understanding of different movement techniques by introducing tactical problems such as shot selection and defending.
Shot selection includes judging the distance of the target and then deciding which kind of throw would work best, while
protecting your own target from your opponents.

Tactical Problem (TP): Distance and Direction

On-ball Skills (obs): Follow Through, Back Swing.

Off-ball Movements (obm): Starting Line and Release Point

FMS (if not identified as an obs above): Throwing

Fitness / Skill Components: Coordination, Power, Flexibility

Cognitive Objective(s): To be able to understand when to use the overhand and underhand throw based on the distance and and direction of the target.
Psychomotor Objective(s): To demonstrate proper execution of and underhand and overhand throw and focusing on the follow through and back swing. To
be able to demonstrate proper throw every time.
Affective Objective(s): To have participants encouraging their own team but also focusing on supporting and encouraging the other teams as well.
