It is a pleasure to recommend Julaiporn Sysangvane to you as an elementary school teacher. I was Julaiporn’s
UCI Student Teacher Supervisor for her first quarter of student teaching (winter 2017). During this quarter, her
placement was in a fourth grade suburban classroom. Throughout this experience her work ethic and
willingness to learn were always evident.

Each time I entered Julaiporn’s classroom, her bright smile greeted me and then she was quickly focused on her
students. An understanding of content and a growing repertoire of teaching strategies were always evident in her
lessons. Julaiporn had an easy rapport with her students — always kind, respectful and supportive — which the
students picked up on. Her classroom was a safe place where students were not afraid to take a “risk” and it
was OK to make a mistake. She used technology very effectively as a tool for student learning. Another
strength was her use of student discourse to allow students to learn together and exchange ideas which
promoted richer class discussions. Julaiporn reflected carefully on her lessons and student results, and always
thought of adjustments to improve student learning.

Julaiporn is a very intelligent young teacher, and very much a team player. As a past elementary school teacher
and principal, she is someone I would consider for an elementary teaching position.
