Project #4 – G E O M E T R Y

The URL is: https://illuminations.nctm.org/Activity.aspx?id=3577

This interactive activity was named the “Patch Tool”

The purpose of this activity is to help students find a variety of ways that they can rotate and
connect geometric shapes to create the image they have chosen. The activity gives you
different options to use the shapes.

*Performance Objective #1 –Geometry and Measurement TEKS (Elementary)

The student is expected to: (C) create two-dimensional figures, including circles, triangles,
rectangles, and squares, as special rectangles, rhombuses, and hexagons;

This activity would help my students be able to get a better understanding of the two-
dimensional figures and how to use them to create a certain image.
*Performance Objective #2 --Geometry and Measurement TEKS (Elementary)
The student is expected to: (D) Identify two-dimensional shapes, including circles, triangles,
rectangles, and squares, as special rectangles, rhombuses, and hexagons and describe their
attributes using formal geometric language;

This activity would help students understand a variety of different shapes and number of sides in
order to be able to practice activities like so that are somewhat like puzzles.

*Both of these objectives will definitely be very effective and will challenge the students’ mind.
It has a variety of activities to choose from and for different grade levels. These would be
effective in my classroom because like I said before it is something different and it also helps
them when they don’t understand with the “Hints” button. The website also provides instruction
for the activities.
