Dear Dr. Albaladejo,

The TANARIZ Fishermen Multi-purpose Cooperative (TAFiMCO) was organized

in year 2001 with 23 cooperators/founders and was recognized by the
Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) in November 13, 2001 as a multi-
purpose cooperative with registration No. 9520-13012995.

The original founders simply dreamt of providing their families with some
economic activities to support their financial needs. However, as our members
began to grow, our aspirations to provide greater good not only to our members
but also to our community began to thrive.

Guided by our Vision to become “A stable and leading cooperative in CARAGA

patronized by financially-secured households“ and our Mission “to extend
financial environmentally-sound economic services for the improvement of socio-
economic well-being of the disadvantaged and entrepreneurial sectors” in all of
our undertakings, we fortunately achieve several awards and recognitions. We
were hailed as 2012-2013 Natatanging Samahan ng Magsasaka at Mangigisda
by Department of Agriculture and by the Office of the President, 2013 Regional
GAWAD SAKA Outstanding Small Farmers/Fisherfolk Organization, and
Outstanding Cooperative for the year 2015 by Provincial Cooperative
Development Council in cooperation with Provincial Cooperative Development
Office.

Alongside with all of our hopes, is our full commitment to protect the
environment especially the fisheries resources of our island and to extend our
full support to all of the local government projects for sustainable management
of the natural resources (land, water and other related resources). At present,
our focus is on the monitoring of illegal fishing. Sadly, we lack vessel to utilize
in our coastal patrol activities hence, we are requesting your good office to
allocate one patrol boat for us to help the quest of our municipality in monitoring
illegal fishing and apprehending illegal fishers.
It is hoped that this request would merit your positive response, as the said
vessel would ultimately redound to the benefit and welfare not only of TAFIMCO
members but of all Socorrohons.
