Tues, 4/24 - TCHS Honors Night - Due to construction at Tift County High School,
the ceremony for Honors Night has been moved to the UGA Conference
Center. The conference center is located on 15 RDC Road in Tifton, Georgia.
The ceremony will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24. The
students will process into the auditorium at 6:15 p.m. Please arrive early to
secure a seat. We are looking forward to celebrating the academic
achievements of the students of Tift County High School.
Invitations for Honors Night were given to students on Thursday, April 12 during 1st
block. If your student does not have a 1st block class on campus, the invitation will be
held in the first class they do have on campus. If your student has all MOWR classes,
the student needs to come to the front office to pick up their invitation. Any questions
about meeting requirements to be recognized at Honors Night should be directed to
the guidance counselor for the student.
The reserved seat number is listed on the envelope of the formal invitation. Please take
a picture of the label so that you can remember your assigned row and seat number.
Parents may sit in any area of the Grand Auditorium that has not been reserved for
faculty or students. Doors will open at 5:00 p.m. for guests to be seated for the
ceremony.
Students must report to the UGA Conference Center by 5:30 p.m. Please follow the
signage in the Front Lobby to the Check-in Area. Administrators will check dress code
at this time.
Students must complete the check-in process by 6:00 p.m. Students arriving after this
time will not be allowed to participate in the program.
The processional will begin promptly at 6:15 p.m.
Students who have problems obtaining appropriate attire are encouraged to speak
with a guidance counselor prior to the event.
Dress Standards - *Dress standards as stated in the Code of Conduct will be followed.
o Skirts/dress shorts must be no shorter than 3 inches from the crease of the
knee/leg. Transparent skirts must also have undergarments that measure this
length. Leggings/pantyhose should be covered with a dress/skirt that measures
this length.
o Cleavage should be covered. A tank top under a dress/blouse or sweater
should be worn to cover cleavage.
o Shoulders should be covered with at least a cap sleeve. Sleeves with peepholes
and/or tank tops should be covered with a sweater or jacket.
o Clothing should completely cover undergarments.
o Shirts/Blouses/Dresses that dip very low in the back should be covered with a
sweater or jacket.
o Pants should be worn at the waist.
o Earrings are the only visible body piercings allowed for ladies. Gentlemen with
visible body piercings of any kind violate the dress standards.
o Ladies and gentlemen may wear dress pants.
Prom tickets will be sold during all 3 lunches in the commons. $45 per
ticket—includes t-shirt. Prom is Sat, Apr 21. Seniors will be given 6 tickets for
parents for Senior Walk. Seniors must purchase a prom ticket to participate
in the Senior Walk; it is part of the prom festivities, not an isolated event!
Additional tickets for the Senior Walk will be $5 at the door on Saturday
night. The Senior Walk begins at 9:00 pm.
Recognition of student awards, scholarships, etc – We are proud of ALL of the accomplishments of our TCHS
students. Please understand, we can only recognize a student if we are aware of their
award/accomplishment! PLEASE have your student contact their guidance counselor if the student is the
recipient of any award or recognition.

Duke University invites students to participate in their Summer Session! If you are seeking to
gain academic credit from renowned Duke Faculty, are hoping to spend your summer
enjoying residential activities at Duke, and are seeking to prepare for college while creating
an international network of peers then this is the summer program for you! One session is a
traditional summer session of three weeks of academic enrichment for students currently in
9th – 12th grades while the other session is an intensive STEM Academy of one week for
students currently in 9th – 12th grades. The deadline for admission is May 1st. Please visit

Fri, 4/27 – FAFSA Friday – FAFSA experts will be in the TCHS Guidance dept to
help students and parents complete the FAFSA. A sign-up sheet is available in
the guidance office
Sat, 4/28 – Special Hearts & Spirit Club Dance – We are planning a very special
evening for the students in Special Hearts at TCHS and Spirit Club at NEC. This is
open to the entire student body at TCHS and NEC. There will be music, lights
and snacks. The fun begins at 7:00pm and we will dance and have a good
time until 9:00pm in the TCHS Commons. Mark your calendar and make plans
to attend. You will be glad you are there!
Mon, 4/30 – deadline for poetry contest April is National Poetry Month and in
celebration the America Library of Poetry is holding a Poetry Contest. The
grand prize is $500 and the deadline is April 30. Turn your poem into Mrs.
Coleman in the media center or your Lit teacher.
Club News:
Thurs, 4/19 - All choral dept seniors (including show band and crew), dance
captains, section leaders, and solo winners need to meet in the PAC lobby after
school Thursday 4/19 for pictures.
FFA: Congratulations to the following students for their amazing accolades and
accomplishments in Ag!
Ivey Cook and Gage Nichols won the Washington Leadership
Conference scholarships and will attend a week-long conference this
summer.
Deanna (Dee Dee) Parten was selected to perform and compete in the
GA State FFA Convention Talent Show.
Ivey Cook and Meagan Taylor were selected to serve the GA FFA at the
State Convention as GA FFA Foundation Ambassadors.
All of these students (and more) will be competing /serving/receiving their
awards during the GA State FFA Convention in a few weeks. They have and are
continuing to work hard, so please encourage and congratulate them!
