Professional Development Plan

(What do YOU need to work on in order to grow professionally?) link the activity with my lesson or with my
outcome. I will also watch what kinds of assessments the master teacher does.

1. Choose and describe an aspect from a teaching competency that you need to work on (Goal)
I need to work on my activity I have to link the activity without come.

2. Describe what you will do to help achieve your goal (Strategies Used)
Search different activity in Pinterest-search specifically about the outcome.

3. Describe how you can tell if you’re achieving your goal (Evidence)

If a see the students able to do the activity or when I ask questions during the activity and the able to
answer it.

Grade Level: Subject: Learning Outcome (ADEC code and words):

2SGD5: create 3D structures using concrete materials
2 math using concrete materials and recognize the 3D solids
used.

Resources (what materials/equipment will you and  Preparation (what do you need to make or
the students use? Be specific) check before class?)

math books, pencil, glue, scissors – playdoh- tooth  Activities

pick-work sheet .different size of boxes
 PowerPoint

 Materials

Key vocabulary:

Cube-pyramid-cylinder-Triangular-sphere-cone- Triangle,
square-circle.

Introduction (warmer activity + teacher active engagement)

Time: 15 min

Teacher will introduce the lesson, good morning grade2 today we will learn new shapes 3D shapes,
teacher will open the 3D shapes video, teacher will stop the video, teacher explain2D shapes are
Whole

'flat' 2D shapes has one side and 3D shapes are not flat. 3D shape has more than two side.2D
shapes and 3D shapes is an equilateral.
and ask students question about what they see, what is this shape name repeat the shape name with
the teacher, give one example teacher will show different shapes picture in real live for example
show oaring picture and say teacher look like sphere and go same think with all shapes .Than
teacher will open the shapes power point. In the power point the are different activity, teacher will
call students to connect

the picture with shape for example teacher will show ice-cream cone and students will this picture
with cone shape.

Independent Experience (small group activity 1)

Center1

Students will answer the exercises about full or amity in math book page 162-163.

Materials: math books, pencil

center2: Thisactivity for mix ability students: There’s will be two papers one paper they
have the table with different 3D shapes on it other paper will be different pictures for
some materials we use it or we eat it but in geometric forms. students have to cut the
pictures and glue it in the assigned place, for example, they will but the ball pictured in
the sphere.

Center3:
This activity for mix ability students, there’s will be playdoh - tooth pick،students will use tooth pick
and playdoh to build different 3D shapes.

Center4:

This activity will be for mix ability students, there will be paper with different shapes pictures
students have to write the shape name and how many sides it has. for example, cude picture
students have to write it cued 6 sides.
Center 5:

This activity will be mix ability students, there will be paper with shapes names and picture, students
have to connect the vocab with the picture. For example connect the cylinder picture with cylinder
word.

center6:

This activity will be foe mix ability students, there will be concrete stuff milk box, orange, cocopops
box, birthday hat, Potato box. students have to draw the shape and write the how many said it has
and what is look like. For example, students will take orange and writ it looks like a sphere it has one
face.

teacher will ask students to search in the class and find 3D shapes in class and talk about it, for
15 min

example this s cube it has 6 faces all faces are equal. Teacher will chance for all students.
Closing

Time:
Assessment:

In the beginning, the teacher will show different pictures foe 2D and 3D shapes.

In the middle, teacher will ask students how did we know if is 3D or 2d shape.

In the closing, find a shapes

Checklist- see who will find a shape and talk about it.

Overview of the lesson:
MS FATIMA OBAID BEGAN BY CALLING THE STUDENTS TO THE CARPET. SHE MADE SURE THAT ALL
STUDENTS SAT NICELY AND HAD THEIR HANDS IN THEIR LAPS AND EYES ON HER , SHE THEN BEGAN THE
DAILY ROUTINE OF A VIDEO COUNTING, CHART –ROTE COUNTING/ SKIP COUNTING AND WENT INTO A 3
DIMENSIONAL SHAPES SONG WITH THE STUDENTS. SHE THEREAFTER INTRODUCED THE OUTCOME TO THE
STUDENTS. SHE ASKED QUESTIONS AS A START TO ASSESS PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF STUDENTS. SHE USED
THEIR FEEDBACK AS A TEACHABLE MOMENT AND BUILD UP ON HER OUTCOME OF 3D SHAPES. AS SHE ASK
QUESTIONS WHICH LED INTO A DISCUSSION , SHE USED A CUP TO SELECT NAMES OF RANDOM STUDENTS
AND THIS KEPT THE ATTENTION OF THE STUDENTS.
SHE USED AN INTERACRIVE POWERPOINT TO HELP STUDENTS IDENTIFY , COMPARE AND DESCRIBE 3D
OBJECTS. STUDENTS WERE GIVEN A CHANCE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PLACING OF SHAPES UNDER THE
CORRECT HEADING. SHE THEN USED CONCRETE MODEL OF 3D SHAPES , TOCOMPARE THE 3D OBJECTS. THE
STUDENTS WERE ABLE TO FOLLOW AND UNDERSTAND ( AS THEY RESPONDED WELL TO THE QUESTIONS
ASKED). SHE REINFORCED BEHAVIOUR AS WELL BY PRAISING THE STUDENTS WHO RAISED THEIR HANDS AND
WERE ATTENTIVE. FOR THE LESSER ATTANTIVE AND BEHAVIOUR ISSUES SHE USED CLASS DOJO AND THE
BEHAVIOUR CHART AS A REFERENCE. SHE ALSO INCLUDED STUDENTS THAT ARE QUITE WEAK IN THE LEARNING
PROCESS AND THIS HELPED THEM TO RE FOCUS THEIR ATTENTION.

MS FAIMA OBAID’S ACTIVITIES WERE QUITE RELEVANT TO THE GRADE TAUGHT. SOME OF THEM WERE ALSO
ENGAGING WHILE OTHERS REQUIRED THINKING AND CREATIVITY.
STUDENTS HAD 4 LEARNING CENTERS IN WHICH THEY HAD TO ROTATE.
CENTER1 – TAKE A CONCRETE OBJECT AND FINDS ITS LABEL ( ORANGE- SPHERE/ CUP-CYLINDER)
CENTER2-CUT THE 3D SHAPES AND PASTE THEM UNDER THE CORRECT HEADING.
CENTER3-MAKE A 3D SOLID USING PLAY DOH AND TOOTH PICKS
CENTER4-COMPLETE AN SCTIVITY IN YOUR MATHS TEXTBOOK.
SHE MONITIRED THE ELARNING CENTERS AND ALSO ASKED QUESTIONS, SHE USED OBSERVATION AND KID
WATCHING ON THIS DAY.
THE ROUNDING UP OF THE LESSON WAS INTERESTING AS STUDENTS WERE CALLED TO THE CARPET AND SOME
WERE SELECTED TO PLAY A GAME OF SEARCH THE CLASS FOR 3D OBJECTS AND COME BACK TO THE CARPET TO
TELL THE CLASS ABOUT IT.( SHAPES/ FACES/ WHERE YOU SEEN IT? ET.C)
KIDS RESPONSES WERE AWESOME.

Areas for development:

 TIME MANAGEMENT- ALWAYS LIMIT THE LESSON STARTER TO 10 -15 MIN AND NOT MORE AS
LEARNERS ATTENTION SPAN IS VERY SHORT.
 MAKE SURE STUDENT TEXTBOOKS ARE PREPARED IN ADVANCE.
 MAKE USE OF GROUP LEADERS.
 DON’T BE AFRAID TO ASK OPEN –ENDED QUESTIONS
 USE MORE HIGHER ORDER THINKING QUESTIONS TO STRETCH GIFTED AND TALENTED STUDENTS.

Focus for next lesson:

 TIME MANAGEMENT- START OF LESSON.
 MAKE USE OF GROUP LEADERS.
 GET STUDENTS TO RE-ITERATE TO EACH OTHER WHAT THEY ARE LEARNING.
 ASK MORE HIGHER ORDER QUESTIONS.
 TRY TO USE DIFFENTIATED ACTIVITIES AND NOT ONLY MIXED ABLILITY GROUPINGS.
Math Lesson Reflection
Select (S):

Identify a lesson and what standards are you addressing

This lesson is a math lesson. The lesson was about 3D shapes and distinguish the difference
between 2D and 3D shapes. The student will be able to create 3D structures using concrete
materials and recognize the 3D solids used.

Describe (D):

Who is the lesson for?

Where did the lesson take place?

What were you trying to achieve in your lesson?

What did the students do?

This lesson for grade 2 students. The lesson was in the English Classroom. In this
lesson, I was trying to teach 3D shapes, how students know this is 3D shapes. first
students was in the carpet teacher show them different picture for 3D shapes in real
life than teacher open the power pointe and there was differentiate activity students
have to connect the picture with the right shape than they want to centers to do
different activity, students were cutting the pictures and glue it in the assigned place in
the worksheet, for example, they will but the ball pictured in the sphere. ،students
were using toothpick and playdoh to build there different 3D shapes.one center
Students were answering the exercises about 3D shapes in the math book. another
canter student was connecting shape name with the correct picture. the last center was
using Concrete stuff like a box in different shapes and the have to write the shape
name and how many faces it has in the worksheet.

Analyze (A):

Why do you think the students responded the way that they did?

How well did your teaching relate to the students’ prior understanding?
How well did you engage the students?

In the formative assessment, I check their understanding and then decide if the topic needs re-
taught, I found that students could complete the activity independently, and during the activity I
walk through centers and ask some question during the activity, about what the doing, what is this
shape name how many faces it has, give one example in real life, students answer me back and I
know the students what I try to teach them to understand. students know the 2D shapes from
grade one that I teach them new shapes which is 3d shapes. Students were engaging when the
doing their activity which is making their own 3D shapes and when the matching the picture with
the shape.

Appraise (A):

Explain the nature of the experience from the students’ perspective

Did your lesson meet your teaching goals?

In the introductions students were involved with me answering questions, during the centers'
students were able to the complete activity because the instruction was clear, there was one
problem student Connote read the words to complete the matching the word with the picture. In
the closing teacher ask students to search a different shape in the class and talk about it.my
teaching goal was to link my activity with the outcome, I plan the activity is that link to my
outcome.

Transform (T):

How might you enhance student learning of this lesson in the future?

What are the implications for your professional practice?

In the future, I will take my students out said of class to search the different shapes. The benefit
of doing that the students will be able to know more about shapes and see the shapes in real life.
