Angle Grinder or Side Grinder
arbor collar
arbor nut
This nut is the screw that fits through the top of the
lap and secures it to the arbor.
This bit is used for drilling wood and other soft materials, but not for drilling metal. As
a rule, the point of a bit should be sharper for softer materials than for harder ones.
Band saw
Used for trimming accurately to a line used for marking out or making a
material flat. Guards and dust extraction should be used. PPE
Bench Grinder
This grinder is electrically powered stationary grinding machines. They usually have
two grinding wheels that are used for grinding, rust removal, and metal buffing.
This lever, placed just under the saw table surface on the front of
the cabinet, locks the angle setting of the blade.
bore
Chain saw
This saw may be needed to cut heavy timbers, posts, and pilings. Both gas and
electric models are available, but gasoline powered types are more powerful.
chipper
chuck
Chuck Key
All bits are held in the drill by this and they can be
either keyed or key-less.
Circular Saw, utility saw, electric
handsaw, or builder's saw
This is a power drill that get their power from AC wall plug source. The drill is most
commonly used to make holes by spinning drill bits into wood, metal, plastic and other
materials it also used to drive screws or to cut small holes in lumber, or to prepare a site for a
nail or screw.
Cordless Drill
This is a power drill that get their power from DC battery source and usually contain a
rechargeable battery pack that runs the motor. This drill is useful for working in
awkward areas or in areas where a power source is hard to find.
Detail Grinder
This grinder uses small attachments, also called points, to smooth and polish intricate
metallic work. These shank mounted points attachments, are commonly found in
sizes ranging from 1/16 to 1/4 inch.
disc sander
This is a drill press also known as a pedestal drill, pillar drill, or bench drill) is a fixed
style of drill that may be mounted on a stand or bolted to the floor or workbench.
Portable models with a magnetic base grip the steel workpieces they drill.
This is a motor belt and by adjusting the location of the drive belt
on the pulleys you can set the drill press to five different speeds
drum sander
This gun looks like a drill, but has a "nose" instead of a chuck. The nose holds an
interchangeable 0.25 inches 6 mm shank bit, commonly known as a tip. The most
common type of tip is a 1 inch 25 mm #2 phillips.
Electromagnetic drill
This drill is a portable drill mounted that is used for drilling thick metal. When the
drill is placed on metal and is turned on, the magnetic base will hold the drill in place
for drilling. The drill can also be rotated on the base.
feather board
Finishing Sander
This sander is used when an even, smooth surface is desired, such as needed for
painting. These sanders are used to have either orbital circular or oscillating back
and forth movement.
This bit is also used in wood. The bit size is measured by the
spade's diameter, which ranges from 1/2 to 1 1/2 inches.
Forstner Drill Bit
This bit is used on wood and is particularly good for boring any part of a circle.
This saw can crosscuts, miters, bevels, and makes compound cuts. It crosscuts, miters,
bevels, and makes compound cuts on any stock up to 2 x 12
guide fence
Hammer Drill
This drill has a pounding action that lets you drill into concrete, brick, or tile. The bit
rotates and hammers at the same time, allowing you to drill much faster than you
could with a regular drill.
These demolition jacks are used for pushing heavy machinery and other heavy objects; for
pulling wheels, bearings, gears, and cylinder liners; and for straightening or bending
frames. They have two basic parts: the pump and the cylinder. The two parts are joined by a
high-pressure hydraulic hose.
This woodworking machine used to produce a flat surface along a board's length and
are commonly used to dress the edges and ends of boards. They may also be used
for planing a face, cutting a rabbet, bevel, chamber, or taper.
kickback guard
This router bit cuts a 45-degree miter with a tongue and groove. When correctly cut,
the parts go together at a perfect 90-degree angle and the interlocking tongues and
grooves make for lots of mechanical strength and glue surface area.
This large scale demolition jack is frequently used in construction such as tearing
down brick and concrete walls and breaking up concrete or pavement.
Plate joiner or biscuit cutter
woodworking tool
This is a woodworking tool used to join two pieces of wood together. This is a portable tool
for cutting slots in the edges of lumber for wood plate. Trim carpenters use this tool to
assemble casing lumber and joining shelves and facings of cabinets built on site
Pneumatic Drill
This sander is used to remove rough areas from large, flat sections of wood: for
trimming off excess wood; and for stripping old finishes such as paint and varnish.
This saw is used when it is better to move the saw to the work than to move the work
to the saw. It can be used to cut pipe, metal, plastic, wood, and irregularly shaped
materals
These guns are used to drive various fasteners into concrete and structural steel. The
gun ignites blasting powder to drive fasteners into tough material. The tool may be
either direct acting or indirect acting.
This nail gun greatly speed up the installation of materials such as wallboard,
molding, framing members, and shingles. They are driven by compressed air
traveling through air lines connected to an air compressor.
This is a special saw to operate carpenter sets the angle from a scale
marked off in degrees. The cut is made by pulling downward on the handle.
These two in one guns which most of them are air pneumatic powered this is a hand-held
machine used to drive heavy metal staples into wood, plastic, or masonry. They speeds up
work and allows the carpenter to work in tight places where swinging a hammer might be
difficult or impossible.
This saw is especially useful in cutting compound miters. It is also a good tool for
cutting larger dimension lumber which is difficult to slide across a saw table. The
proper saw setup for cutting a large sheet of plywood.
radial arm saw's arm
raker tooth
This is the some crosscut saws use special teeth called "rakers"
designed to clean out the cut strips of wood from the kerf.
Crosscut saws generally have larger teeth than rip saws.
This sander can be used circular and back and forth. This sander
combines both types of movement into one sander.
These saws are designed for more heavy duty jobs. You can use longer and tougher
blades than the other saws. They can saw through walls or ceilings and create
openings for windows, plumbing lines, and more.
ring test
A method of testing the condition of a grinding wheel. The wheel is mounted on a rod
and tapped. A clear ring means the wheel is in good condititon; a dull thud means the
wheel is in poor condition and should be disposed of.
router
router/shaper
These saws have very fine blades, which makes them great tools for doing delicate
and intricate work, such as cutting out patterns or irregular shapes from wood or thin,
soft metals. They are also one of the best tools for cutting circles.
Sanding disc
This is a round disc , flat piece that remove surface defects, rust,
paint and corrosion, making your projects look as good as new.
saw guard
Soldering Guns
These guns are a solder-melting tool that has a step-down transformer. This applies a
low voltage across the tip. The current passing through the tip produces enough heat
to melt solder.
Soldering Iron
This iron is a tool used to melt solder. This iron's heat produced as current passes
through a heating element.
The heating element uses a coil with high resistance wire.
This cutter head create the grooves running the length of your board. Also,
there are no aluminum cutter heads produced for jointer or planers.
splitter
Table Saw
thickness planer
trigger lock
A small lever, switch, or part that you push or pull to activate a locking catch or
spring. Activation this device causes the power tool to stay in the operating mode
even when you finger is not on it. Do not use this with hand power tools.
This stationary sander is used to smooth the edges of various types of wood. It is
mounted on a stand or work bench. It is powered by A/C voltage, wall plug.
wingnut
Wood lathe
Wood shaper
This is a shaperit does essentially the same job as the router table, with the
main difference being that this shaper is a stationary machine designed for
larger volume work while a router is a hand tool for lighter duty work.
Routers can also be mounted on a router table, and used as a stationary
tool.
This is what the gears look like in a worm drive circular saw. These
gears create great torque which turns the blade.
