5-E Lesson Plan model

Topic: Folklore/ Fiction


Objectives:
A. Students
B. will be able to understand fictitious literature and answer questions similar to those
seen on the STAAR test
C. After playing Telephone and playing a quizizz game on theme
D. participation and effort in games as well as exit ticket for their best try at making a theme.

Phase 1: Engage
Capture student attention, activate student prior knowledge, stimulate thinking, raise key questions, etc. 1

Students will play a short game known as Telephone to simulate a folklore’s change
through the ages. They will show understanding of the passing down of information
orally.
Phase 2: Explore
Allow students to observe, record data, isolate variables, design and plan experiments, create graphs,
interpret results, develop hypotheses, and organize their findings.

Students will play a quick game of quizzizz that explains theme and I will explain the

Introduce laws, models, theories, and vocabulary. Guide students toward coherent generalizations, and
help students understand and use scientific vocabulary to explain the results of their explorations
1. Give students a brief explanation of Ms. Hennington while they pass out books,
paper and chromebooks.
2. Give students an explanation of folklore and how information transferred orally is
hard to replicate exactly

4. Direct students to bring out their books and turn to the folklore passage and read

Phase 4: Elaborate
Provide students opportunity to apply their knowledge to new domains, raise new questions, and explore
new hypotheses. May also include related problems for students to solve.
STAAR test is next week and there will be questions over theme, main idea, and a
fiction passage.
Phase 5: Evaluate
Students will turn in exit ticket and show participation and understanding in games.
