Greet your students, and write date. E.g. Today is Monday, May 29 , 2017. (Background):
Connect previous contents, awake their interest to the class with a short game to set expectations.
During the session:
Remind students to raise their hands before speaking, have eye contact with all of them. To develop students´
comprehension of written and spoken English; use basic drawings, examples, realia, body language, and/or words with
similar spelling in English and Spanish such as copia-copy, etc. Adapt the elicitation of vocabulary according to
students´ level or performance.
At the end:
Recap what was learned, monitor students´ notes in their notebooks or books.

Session 1
 Find out what 15 minutes
community Welcome students to the unit, and introduce different types of community events. To do it, trace 6 columns on the Types of community
events (like board, one per type of event. Show the corresponding image while reading the ad content aloud, then say: In my events:

10 minutes
Find on your students´ book an exercise related to labeling type of events, and guide students to answer it.
If a similar exercise is not included on the Activity Book; use images 1 to 6 to play Pin the tail on the board.
How to play Pin the tail:
- First, students observe the ad as you point at it and say it. Ask them to repeat along with you each type of event.
It will help them identify their position on the board and the writing.
- Blindfold one kid; ask him to paste the ad above the corresponding word (use images 1 to 6).
- The rest of the group can give directions to help the blindfolded student to paste the image correctly.

Ask students to find community event ads on their book to draw a red frame on the one of their preference.
This community event ad should correspond to one of the type of events previously introduced.
Organize students in pairs; they will take turns to guess their partner´s favorite type of event.
Have them use the following question until they make a correct guess:
A: What type of community event I prefer? B: What type of community event I prefer?
B: You prefer a(n) ________. A: You prefer a(n) ________.
A: Yes I do. / No, I don´t. B: Yes I do. / No, I don´t.
Note: Model the exercise before students perform it.

The following question will be written on the board, and students will copy it on their notebook:
Which of these events happen in your school community?
Read the question aloud, elicit answers and write them on the board.
Ask students use their index finger to trace the word on the air, on their arm, or notebook to practice spelling.
Say: In my community, there will be a festival.
Ask them to write the type of event they heard without looking at the board.

Session 2
15 minutes Party:
Explain students the difference between a party (small amount of guests) and a festival (big amount of guests).  Father´s day
Draw a chart with two columns; one for party and the other for festival, and paste image 1 and 2 accordingly.  birthday
Mention an example that corresponds to any of these 2 types of events, e.g. Birthday, and ask: “Which type of event is  Mother´s day

Say: “A community event ad includes different parts: type of event, date, time, place, cost, image, and slogan.” Use Community event ad

Call students by rows to come to the front; students will take turns to present a part of an advertisement using the

Have different students participate until they become familiar with vocabulary. Use image 1 or 2 as a reference:

Say: Some ads include additional information that describe the event to make it attractive. Let´s see some examples… Qualities:

Find on your students´ book an exercise to identify descriptive words. Help students infer on meaning using examples,
illustrations or explanations if necessary, and then guide them to answer the exercise in their book.
If a similar exercise is not included on the Activity Book, draw simple illustrations, ask students to take out their
notebook and complete the following sentences using descriptive words. Check appropriateness.

Ask students to take out their notebook. Use the following commands to make a draft of an advertisement and ask
students to do it on their notebook choosing information from events seen in previous sessions.
1. At the top, write what type of event it is.
2. Include an illustration to represent it.
3. Below the image, write the date, time, place and cost.
4. Write additional information if necessary.
Use these questions to help students complete the advertisement:
- What type of event is it? - When is it? - How much does it cost?
- Where is it? - What time does it start? - What is the slogan?

The rest of the team will check if answers are correct or need to be changed, provide help is necessary.
Then with the use of their notebooks and books students will correct spelling errors on their answers.

use markers, crayons or colors to make the final version of it, let them decorate the ad.
