SOME EXTRAS TO CONSIDER OR EXPECT DURING AN INTERVIEW

1. Why do you want to work for X school?

2. How do you feel about working in the morning? Evening?
3. How do you feel about teaching business English?
4. What should you do during a first lesson?
5. How long do you plan on staying in Prague?
6. What is the present perfect/third conditional/etc.? What’s the function? (don’t be
completely shocked if you get some on-the-spot grammar question/quiz/test)
7. How would you elicit Y?
8. What is another CCQ for Z?
9. Can you use this lesson/theme for a different level? How would you adapt it?
10. What grammar point could you teach from this lesson?
11. What’s an alternative activation or follow-up for this?
12. What would be a good homework assignment for this lesson?

*for #4, yes of course there should be some ‘get-to-know-you’ kind of banter through
an ice-breaker/warmer but ALSO, say something about a needs analysis

*for 7-11, think about ways to ADAPT the material! If you have a reading, how could it
be used for grammar? If you have a listening, how could it be used from grammar? Try
to ask yourselves these kinds of things before an interview.

**ADVICE
a. use ‘teacher’ speech (that is, all the teacher language you’ve learned during the
course: STT, TTT, engage, elicit, etc.)
b. eye contact
c. language grading
d. you could possibly impress an interviewer if you have your TEFL lessons in a binder
e. study your grammar!
