1. Books have three parts, the cover, back cover and the spine.
2. The title is the name of the book and it also has a special page called the title page.
3. The person who writes the book is called an author and the person who draws the
pictures is called the illustrator

Undo-Do Up tying a shoe lace, zipping zippers, and buttoning 2 Zipper Manips (IWP)

Teacher: Place the manips on the table. Partially
tie up a shoe lace and zip up a zipper. Unbutton
all of the buttons.
Child Objective: The children will manipulate the
objects to develop fine motor skills. They will
develop cognitive skills as they problem solve.

Intentional Teaching: Teachers will invite the
children to do the activity with them. They will
help the children figure out how to do a certain
task. Encourage the child by timing them or
racing them.

OUTDOOR PLAY 1:55-2:45 p.m. Location: South Playground
Gross Motor: Description: They will climb through the monkey Metal Monkey Bars (GG)
Relay Coarse bars and crawl through the tunnel. Tunnel (GG)
Teachers: Place the metal monkey bars on the Stepping Stones (GG)
grass by the water fountain. Snake the stepping
stones around to connect to a tunnel that leads
to more stepping stones that leads back to the
beginning of the monkey bars.
Activity Objective: Children will practice large

Intentional Teaching: Teachers will demonstrate
what to do on the obstacle coarse. They will
encourage the children to do it and invite others
to join.
*2nd: Description: The children will play dramatic play Pirate Flag (IWP)
Pirate Ship- Treasure outside. Searching for treasure and being Dress Up -pirate stuff (

Teachers: Hang the pirate flag from the flag pole Duck Tape (RR1)
on the loft. Place pirate dress up items on the Sign (IWP)
loft. Place binoculars on the stairs. Place sign to Treasure Chest/books (IWP)
look for the treasure taped to the inside of the
loft. Hide the treasure chest behind the patch of
trees and bushes. Try to hide it well enough so
they have to search for it. The treasure chest will
have pretend books in the chest.
Activity Objective: Children will practice their
cognitive skills as they search for the hidden
treasure. They will learn social skills as they work
as a team.
Intentional Teaching: Teachers will encourage
dramatic play and pretend play as they help
search for the treasure chest. Re-hide the chest
when it is found. Talk to the children about how
wonderful books are and the different parts of a
book.
3rd: Description: They will learn to jump in the sacks 4 Burlap Sacks (GG)
Burlap Races while racing, work as a team and encourage Yarn (WR)
their peers. Sign (IWP)
Teachers: Place burlap sacks on the grass. Hang
“Finish” sing to 2 of the 3 trees near the large
shed.
Activity Objective: Children will develop
cognitive, social/emotional, and gross motor skills
as they race their peers to the finish line.
Intentional Teaching: Teacher will invite children
to have a race with them. Then encourage the
children to continue to race each other. Be the
finish line and be the start of it. Yell “Ready, Set,
Go!” encourage the children to work together.
Help more children participate by cheering for
those that are racing.
