condition.
▪ Simply sweep with a soft-bristle broom before vacuuming (with the brush attachment).
▪ Then, once a month, mix 1/4 cup white vinegar with two gallons of water (or purchase
one of the many suitable commercial cleansers), applying the solution to the floor
with a sponge mop. Rinse with plain water, then dry the surface completely with a

Justification
The most dominant elements of the design for this space are color and pattern. The blue
color and the geometric patterns that were chosen are the elements of design that define the
Art Deco style. A subdominant principle of design is the way harmony was achieved by
making sure all elements are tied together. The concept is supported by using elements and
principles of design to create a peaceful space.
The design reflects the culture and diversity of the client who will occupy the space by
creating harmony. Each piece of furniture complements each other through similarities in
fabric, style, and finish. The furniture selected meets the needs of the client both
aesthetically and functionally. The furniture selection is modern with art deco touches. The
fabrics selected are both durable and easy to maintain, meeting the needs of the women and
children living in the transitional home.
The products selected are both durable and easy to maintain, which means less of use hard
chemicals. The paint has an extremely strong finish and is zero VOC, which creates a
healthier environment Making sure that the furniture and other items are durable means less.
When designing the layout of the apartments, ADA requirements for two of the apartments
were taken into an account. Every bedroom has a operable window, which is an egress code.
Reflection
The biggest thing that I learned in this class is time management. Because this is an
online course, the time provided was very little and the material was the same as a
regular class, I had to learn to better manage my time with work and school. This is an
important quality to have, because in real life, projects move in different speeds and
stages, and learning to manage that properly is a very useful skill. Another quality that I
learned is being able to quickly come up with a solution to a problem. For example, I had
trouble figuring out the placements of some of the apartments and furniture as well. But
after a few tries, I learned to quickly figure out a better solution. An lastly, budgeting. For
this project it was important to keep a small budget, because money were donated.
Choosing a durable furniture with an affordable price was a challenge, but I’m proud of
my selections.
I only worked in a team for one assignment, and the only thing that I can say is that
splitting the work is time-saver. It was very easy to communicate with my teammate, and
that brought to a productive assignment, which was completed very quickly. This is very
relatable to my future career, because tasks should not take a long time to complete. If
not, the more time you spend on a task, the more you get back-tracked with other tasks.
