Nebraska is a 2013 American comedy-drama road film starring Bruce Dern, Will Forte, June

Squibb and Bob Odenkirk. It is directed by Alexander Payne and written by Bob Nelson.[3] It was
released on November 15, 2013.[4] It was nominated for the Palme d'Or at the 2013 Cannes Film
Festival,[5] where Bruce Dern won the Best Actor Award.[6] It was nominated for six Academy
Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director for Payne, Best Actor for Dern, Best Supporting
Actress for Squibb, Best Original Screenplay for Nelson and Best Cinematography for Papamichael.

' Nebraska ' tells the story of Woody Grant ( Bruce Dern ) , an old man who thinks he has won a
million dollars and is willing to go to Nebraska to cash (even if it means running away and go on
foot ) . These symptoms of dementia of the elderly alongside the journey to collect the reward
nonexistent happen to be the perfect excuse to show how broken it was the relationship between
Grant and his son David (Will Forte ) .

In the town of Woody seldom happens something interesting. His son David works selling stereos,
just broke up with her partner and is closer to being a loser to be a man to achieve success , unlike
Ross (Bob Odenkirk ) , his television and successful brother. David tell you to play along to his
father , thought to be the only way for your father to realize that he is living an "illusion " or
fantasy, there is no prize waiting for him ( " What harm does leave his living fantasy a couple of
days ? " David question)

'Nebraska' is a film of few words, without ornate speeches. The story he tells is bittersweet,
optimistic and sad at once. Payne handles great silences and uncomfortable situations. When
family Woody "friends" and they hear the news, all is kindness and hugs, but above this sudden
sympathy and concern is the interest.

Nebraska is a movie with pretty good comedy points from which you draw a laugh. I
thought it was a remarkable dramatic comedy. Recommended.

The film was shot in black and white because Payne said he wanted to produce an "iconic,
archetypal look".[14] According to cinematographer Phedon Papamichael, the choice was to use "the
poetic power of the black and white in combination with these landscapes and of course the
landscapes are playing a huge role in this story".[14] The choice of black and white was made
against distributor Paramount Vantage's wishes
