Aggregate Testing Equipment:

Aggregate is a broad category of coarse particulate material used in construction, including sand, gravel, crushed stone,
slag, recycled concrete and geosynthetic aggregates.

Mechanical Sieve Shaker

Used to make the process of sieving easier and quicker. The sieve shaker effects a more elaborate and standardized
sieving action to produce accurate results and eliminate personal errors involved in manual sieving.

It is used in Sieve Analysis (Gradation test). Sieve analysis helps to determine the particle size distribution of the coarse
and fine aggregates.

Aggregate Impact Testing Machine

Used to determine the aggregate impact value (AIV) which provides a relative measure of the resistance of an aggregate
to sudden shock or impact. Impact is the action of one object coming forcibly into contact with another.

Aggregate Crushing Value Testing Machine

Used to determine Aggregate Crushing Value (ACV) which gives a relative measure of the crushing resistance of
aggregate under an increasing compressive load. Crush is to deform, pulverize, or force inwards by compressing
forcefully.

Soil Testing Equipment:

Why do we need to test soils? It is important to test the soil because it greatly affects the foundation of the building,
houses, etc.

Liquid Limit Device

Used to determine the moisture content at which the soil passes from plastic state to liquid state; it is very helpful in the
classification of the potential properties of the soil material.

Proctor Compaction Test Apparatus

Soil compaction is of utmost requirement for constructing earth fill for dams, canal embankments, reservoirs, highways,
runways and railways.

The relationship between soil moisture content and compacted dry density largely determine the construction
specifications and quality control of compacted earth fill.

Direct Shear Testing Machine

Used (mostly by geotechnical engineers) to measure the shear strength properties of soil or rock material, or of
discontinuities in soil or rock masses.

Shear Strength is the strength of a material or component against the type of yield or structural failure where the
material or component fails in shear.

Unconfined Compression Test Apparatus

Used to provide approximate strength values of cohesive soils.

Cohesive soil means clay (fine grained soil), or soil with a high clay content, which has cohesive strength. Cohesive soil is
hard to break up when dry, and exhibits significant cohesion when submerged.
