Valid sophomore 19 31.7 31.7 83.3
senior 10 16.7 16.7 100.0
Total 60 100.0 100.0

In total there were 60 students in the class. Where 13 are freshmen, 19 sophomores, 18 Junior, 10
Seniors.

b. Draw a pie chart. Interpret the output

The biggest part of the class composed of sophomores at 31.7%.

Second biggest parts are juniors at 30.0%.
Third biggest were freshmen at 21.7%.
Last are seniors at 10%.
c. Obtain the appropriate descriptive measure. Interpret the output

The mean is 2.42, Median is 2. The most students are sophomores which is the mode which is
equal to 2.
Std deviation is 1.013 is in the range of our data and covers most of our data.
Skewness is 0.083 which is very little hence skewness is low. Hence most of the students are
between sophomores and juniors.
Minimum is 1 which is freshman and maximum is 4 which is senior.
2. The following table gives one year’s energy consumption for a sample of 70 households in

Total 70 100.0 100.0

Most consumption of electricity is between 91-106 units. This is 25.7% of the total. The lowest
consumed is the interval of 138-154 which is 4.3% of the total.
b. Generate one appropriate chart for the data. Interpret the output

The mean is 86.9

It is skewed to the left hence showing that most households consume less energy.
91-106 energy consumption has the highest frequency hence the most households.
c. Obtain all the appropriate descriptive measures. Interpret the output

Mean is 86.90 so most values are near this value.

Median is 87 as its in the middle.
There are many modes
Std deviation is large due to large range from 153 to 43.
Skewness is to left as its 0.370 hence less amount of energy is consumed.

Interquartile range is Q3-Q1=104.25-63.75=40.5

Maximum is (1.5*IQR)+ Q3
(1.5*40.5)+ Q3=165
Minimum is Q1-(1.5*IQR)
Q1-(1.5*40.5)=3
Median is 87
