General Comment

Caiden is an enthusiastic and involved student. He can be relied upon to be a safe, respectful learner at all times. Caiden
always applies his personal best, regardless of who he is working with. He displays an enthusiastic and positive attitude
towards learning. His effort and dedication in class is commendable, however Caiden needs to be more willing to ask
questions when help is required. Over the duration of the semester, Caiden has developed in his social ability and treats
his peers with respect at all times. He is becoming confident in responding to feedback on his learning and using it to
improve his work.

Over the semester it has been a goal of Caiden’s to improve upon his handwriting. While Caiden is patient and
understanding when he is asked to complete work in a neater and more organised manner, this is a goal which will
continue into the following semester.

Caiden displays an excellent attitude towards all aspects of Mathematics. He has a strong command of numbers and is
able to successfully order, read and write numbers of any size. Caiden can successfully solve problems involving division
by a one-digit number, including those resulting in a remainder. He is improving his ability to solve problems involving
multiplication of large numbers by one or two-digit numbers. Caiden is developing his skills in identifying the place values
of decimal numbers. He demonstrates the ability to describe, create and continue number patterns involving fractions
and decimals. Caiden enjoys participating in measurement activities and can confidently calculate the area and perimeter
of rectangles. He shows confidence in identifying and drawing the line and rotational symmetry of different shapes.
Caiden reflects on knowledge previously acquired and can confidently explain how he obtained an answer to a problem.
Caiden is endeavouring to ask questions to extend his understanding of new concepts and to make more attempts at
solving challenging problems.

Caiden speaks confidently and shows the ability to plan, rehearse and deliver a presentation in a logical order with
accurate content. Caiden is starting to use appropriate body language and voice in his oral presentations.

Within guided reading, Caiden is able to successfully use various comprehension strategies to analyse information from a
number of print and digital sources. Caiden applies effective reading strategies and can confidently read for
understanding and summarise what he has read. He willingly engages in reading tasks and he can describe how events,
characters and settings in texts are depicted. He is beginning to draw inferences based on literal or implied information
in a text.

When writing, Caiden tries hard and knows how to group related information in a well-sequenced paragraph with a
concluding statement. Caiden is capable of creating texts using realistic and fantasy settings. He understands the
different purposes in writing and is developing his ability to select vocabulary to best convey his ideas and persuade his
readers. Caiden is beginning to use imagery, such as similes and metaphors, in poems and narratives. Caiden is learning
to re-read and edit his writing for flow and meaning. Caiden may benefit from using a wider range of figurative language
devices in his writing.

In Science, Caiden explored how solids, liquids and gases have certain properties and behave in particular ways. He
knows how to describe the properties causing solids, liquids and gases to behave differently. Caiden recognises that
substances can exist in different states depending on the temperature.

Caiden has shown brilliant dedication to his work over the semester and is to be commended for his efforts. He is
consistently willing to help in the classroom and goes out of his way to help others. Caiden’s patience and understanding
when receiving feedback continues to grow and will assist him throughout the year while he works towards achieving his
learning goals.
