Wisdom of St Paisios
We must Live simply - and without thinking too much, like a child
with his father. Faith without too much thinking works Wonders.
The logical mind hinders the Grace of God and Miracles.
must practise Patience without judging with the logical mind.
Our Goal is to Rise Spiritually not merely to avoid sin.
Whenever we are tested, let us pray: Thank You, my God, for this
was needed for my Salvation!
When we respect small things, we will have an even greater respect for
bigger things. When we have no respect for small things,
neither will we respect those that are more significant.
In this manner, our Holy Fathers maintained Holy Tradition.
We have the Power of the Cross – our Holy Symbol, the Divine
Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ – only as long as we have
the Holy Marking of our Baptism, meaning that we have
denied, renounced and rejected the evil one and sworn our Holy
Allegiance to Christ and received our Holy Marking – the
Seal of the Gift of the Holy Spirit.
Thoughts are like aeroplanes flying in the air. If we ignore them,
there is no problem but if we pay attention to them, we will
create an airport inside our head, and permit them to land!

revealed to us.
St Ephraim the Syrian
There are two kinds of fear:
one initial and the other Perfect.
One fear is characteristic, so to speak,
We of those who are beginning to be Pious,
while the other Fear is that of Perfect Saints,
who have attained to the measure of Perfect Love.
For example: those who fulfil the Will of God
because of fear of tortures,
is, as was said, still beginners;
for they do not do good for the sake of Good itself,
but rather out of fear of punishment.
Others fulfil the Will of God out of Love for God –
Loving Him just in order to please Him.
They know what the Essence of Good consists of –
they have understood what it means to be with God.
They have True Love,
which the Saint calls “Perfect Love.”
This Perfect Love brings them to complete Fear –
for such people Fear God and fulfil His Will –
not out of fear of punishment,
nor in order to escape tortures, but because –
having tasted the Very Sweetness of being with God –
they fear falling away and being deprived of It.
This Perfect Fear, which is born from this Love,
banishes - casts out - the original fear –
as St John had explained “...Perfect Love casts out fear.
(1 JOHN. 4:18).
Nevertheless, it is not possible
to attain Perfect Fear in any way
other than by the initial fear.

conversed? More than all of these,
how was it when Thou beheld our
Lord of all, brightly Shining in
Beauty, O Blessed Saint, Glorified by
God?
From the morning watch until night;

– let Israel Hope in the Lord.
Who was not amazed when, beholding
Thee wholly shining brightly with
the Radiance of God, O Holy Father,
which evinced Thine Inner Purity?
And who did not undergo the Good
Conversion, and change just by
seeing Thee? Indeed, Thy Radiant
Gaze and cheerful look would
immediately indicate a Treasure of
Godly Longing, and profound
Humility, and a Wealth of Devotion,

Once Love for God had excited Thy

incessantly sought for it until Thou
finally attained a place wholly
desolate where Thou thoroughly
mortified the sinful passions, and
broke all demonic traps by Humility
and Ascetical Discipline. Wherefore,
United thus with God, O Holy Father,
Thou became His Holy Agent,
submitting to His Divine Will in
everything, and thus for the whole
world Thou were offered as a
Sacrifice, Thy hear aflame with Love.
Blessed is the man who Fears the Lord;
he will delight exceedingly in His
Commandments.
O Father Paisios! Thou were
exalted to Contemplation through
Purest Prayer. Thou marvellously
were granted to behold what no one
can see; Thou were granted
Knowledged of Unspoken Things. O

P RIE ST Wisdom! Let us attend!
READER Although a Righteous man
may die before his time, he shall be
at rest.
For old age is not honoured for its
length of existence, nor measured by
its number of years.
Discernment is grey hair for mankind,
and the maturity of old age is a
spotless Life.
There was once a man pleasing to God,
and Loved by Him, and while living
among sinners, he was taken up.

A Glowing Feast has dawned on us
today, cheering our heart and
elevating our mind to Heaven. For a
Heavenly Man and earthly Angel is
celebrated. Yes! Godly-minded
Paisios! He passed his Life on Earth,
yet lived as a Citizen of Heaven. He
was never anxious about earthly
cares. Rather, he ever delighted in
our Lord, and walked in His Light.
By Purely Fasting, he received the
Bread of Angels; by Prayer
unceasing, he made his heart
Heaven. This Blessed man Ascended
Divine Heights, and joined the
Angels in singing the Sacred
Doxology. So let us all, most
reverently, call out to him: “O
Paisios, Peer of Angels, grant us to
share in the Endless Splendour, by
Thine Intercessions to our Lord!”
