Reflection

Introduction from Anna Maria

Say whatever you want but try to keep it positive-solutions if there is a problem

Open discussion
Students need to have more group projects so that they can work in teams, cooperate
Coordination between prep and faculty
Small class sizes were great
Reading at home was great Holes, Animal Farm, and Sophie’s World
The students really like Sophie’s World discussion

Writing
Shadi analyzed Ss errors and brought them up one by one to help them with individual
problem areas. He made worksheets with class specific errors.
Esma used student writing errors as correction activities on the board.
Akin has Ss look at writing models

Vocab and collocations

Suzanne asked Ss to use a collocation in their essay draft. Ss were required to tell her
beforehand which collocations they would use, so she was able to look for it in the essay.
This gets students to improve their vocab in context
Robin circles weak vocab in students essays and tells them to use a synonym for words like
big and bad

All books on Smartboards

Bringing Ss together from different classes into the game room to discuss articles
Having videos in class to begin discussions worked very well
Having Ss go to lectures at the university was good
TED talks for listening were productive

We should continue with INFORMAL quizzes to make sure Ss have understood what was
taught
