PERFORMANCE; A CASE STUDY OF LAKE  KIVU SERENA HOTEL"

By Kalulu Ronald and JeanPaul Niyezimana

The study entitled "electronic payment system (Epayment system) and hotel performance; a

case   study   of   Lake     Kivu   Serena   hotel"     was   conducted   for   achieving   the   following   three

research   objectives,   such   as:   to   assess   the   use   of  Epayment   system   applied   by   Lake   Kivu

Serena hotel, to evaluate  the level of Lake  Kivu Serena hotel  business performance;  and to

evaluate   the  relationship between Epayment system   and hotel performance   in Lake   Kivu Serena

Hotel  Performance. To satisfy the above objectives, both qualitative and quantitave data, primary and

secondary data was   used and analyzed as well   as presented. Secondary data was collected

from   different   dissemination   tools,   mainly   electronic   references   and   primary   data   were

collected from both 86  sampled Lake  Kivu Serena hotel employees in relations with Epayment

systems used by  the  customers and 30 customers  for verifying how this  satisfaction  lead to

the increased success of the hotel. This study was  conducted for verifying the level at which E

payment system  contribute to the performance  of hotels based on the  effective  achievements made

by  Lake  Kivu  Serena  Hotel.  After data assessment the correlation analysis have  been shown

that   Epayment system   contribute in performance of hotels at 34% level, which means that

66% remaining is significant  to the other factors of hotel performance  like  assets, investments,

location, etc. Based on the relevance of Epayment system in the performance of hotels, hotels

are   encouraged   to   develop   tools   for   use   while   customers   are   paying   services   and   goods

consumed, they are encouraged to ensure regular trainings to the employees for using these

tools and customer facilitations. Customers also should recognize that, Epayment system is the

cheapest payment way with money security and they have to use it rather than traditional payments

systems (example hands  cash payment). The government is encouraged to ensure infrastructure
development   and   distribution   in   the   whole   country   sides   for   facilitating   functioning   of   E

payment system tools.
