Scene 1
Two people are looking at their potatoes plants when they notice they are
diseased. They decide to treat them with some pesticide.
Patient: Please give me the pesticide, I will do it.
Family: Ok, I will (look for the pesticide and give it to him) wait a moment, I will look
for some security masks.
Patient: I don’t want to waste any time. (Starts fumigating without wearing mask)
The pesticide container have a leak and unfortunately he breathes some of
the fumes. Then he begins to cough.
Family: What’s wrong? Are you ok?
Patient: Yes, but I think I inhaled some of the chemicals. (Still coughing)
Family: Ok, take it easy, I will call 9.1.1.

Scene 2
9.1.1 Operator: 9.1.1. What is your emergency?
Family: Yes, my cousin… My cousin was spraying some of our plants with
pesticide, and I think he may have inhaled some, please help!
911 operator: Ok Sir, try to stay calm, what is your name?
Family: My name is Gian.
911 operator: Ok Gian, we will assist with your emergency, but first i need some
information. Can you help me whit that?
Family: Sure, what do you need?
911 operator: First I need your address.
Family: Ricaurte, just in the four corners.
911 operator: Thank you. Now is your cousin still conscious?
Family: Yes, he is.
911 operator: Is he having any difficulty breathing?
Family: No, but he can’t stop coughing.
911 operator: How long did your cousin inhale the chemicals?
Family: Like five minutes ago.
911 operator: Ok Gian, wait on line, I will send help to your location immediately.
Family: Ok. Thank you.
The 9.1.1. Operator communicates with M.P.H. (Ministry of public health)
dispatch.
9.1.1. Operator: Ministry health dispatch, do you copy?
Ministry dispatch: Roger 911, what do you have?
9.1.1. Operator: A possible pesticide intoxication. I will send you the details and
coordinate to your systems now. Do you have any units close to Ricaurte, the four
corners?
Ministry dispatch: I’m sending units there right now. (To the unit) unit sixty nine.
Unit sixty nine, do you copy?
Unit 69: Unit 69 here, copy.
Ministry dispatch: We have a young male with possible pesticide intoxication. We
need units on site immediately. The address is Ricaurte, the four corners.
Unit 69: Roger that, we are on our way.
The ambulance is in route to the victims address. Upon arrival, they make
contact with the victim´s family, and secure the area free from toxins.
Dressing all biosafety. Make scene secure.
Paramedic 1: Sir. come here please, my name is LUIS PASACA. I’m the
paramedic. Can you tell me what happened?
Family: I was trying to find a face mask for my cousin to wear while he fumigated
the plants, but the fool had already started spraying by the time I returned. I found
him laying on the floor, coughing. He said he may have inhale some.
Paramedic 1: Ok Sir. We will help him.
Family: Ok, thank you.
Scene 3
The paramedics rush to the patient at the scene, they need to work fast. They
must recolocate the patient away from the immediate area, and remove all
contaminated clothing
Paramedic 1: Sir. my name is Luis Pasaca and I will help you.
Patient: Yes, please.
Paramedic 1: (to PMD 2) Ok partner, we need to take him and get out of here, hold
him by the arm and let’s get out of here.
Paramedic 2: Ok partner, let’s do this.
They take the patient by the arms and help him out of the place.
Paramedic 1: Ok Sir. what’s your name?
Patient: Saul Perez.
Paramedic 1: How old are you?
Patient: I’m thirty years old.
Paramedic 1: What do you feel?
Patient: I feel a little difficulty breathing, my mouth and throat itches a lot.
Paramedic1: Tell me. What happened?
Patient: I was spraying a chemical to my plant but that think fell in me.
Paramedic 1: What kind of chemical?
Patient: “Pesticine forte”
Paramedic 1: Ok, give me your ID number.
Patient: 0105633853
Paramedic 1: Do you have any allergy?
Patient: No as far as I know.
Paramedic 1: Ok, now I need to take off your contaminated clothes. (To his
partner) prepare serum for the patient and oxygen
Paramedic 2: Ok, I’m on it.
Then they put the patient in the ambulance and perform the procedures.
They use the oxygen and put the medicine.
Paramedic 1: I will take your vital signs.
Paramedic 2: Sir. We will put atropine to you, this is an antidote for the chemical,
but you will feel exalted and thirsty. Are you agree?
Patient: If it will help me, I agree.
Paramedic 2: Ok.
Meanwhile, the paramedic 1 give central the patient info.
Paramedic 1: Central, here unit 69 do you copy?
Ministry dispatch: Yes unit 69, fallow with the patient information.
Paramedic 1: Male patient, thirty years old, id number 0105633853, vital signs 37
degrees Celsius, breathing frequency 27, pulse 116 per minute, BP(blood
pressure) 110/80, and 85% of oxygen saturation. Apparent pesticide poisoning, at
this moment my partner is administering atropine 5 mg to the patient. We put an IV
and oxygen and we are waiting for instructions.
Ministry dispatch: Roger unit 69, take the patient to river hospital.
Paramedic: Roger dispatch. We are on the way.
Scene 4
They arrive to the hospital and proceed to give the doctor the patient
information.
Doctor: Hi guys, what are you bringing today?
Paramedic 1: Hello doctor. We bring a male patient, 30 years old, apparent
pesticide poisoning, we administrate oxygen, an IV and atropine. The vital signs at
the moment. 37 degrees Celsius. Breathing frequency 21, pulse 95 per minute, BP
115/85 and 93% of oxygen saturation with oxygen by cannula to 3 liters.
Doctor: Ok guys, good work.
