Pagoda Festival, Burma

The Pagoda Festival is one of the


largest Buddhist festivals in Burma.
Buddha images are paraded around the
lake. Throughout the festival rowing
competitions are held.

Perahera Festival

The Perahera Festival is the most


famous of Sri Lanka's colourful
celebrations. The country's most sacred
relic, one of Buddha's teeth is paraded
around the streets with much fanfare.

Tsechus, Bhutan

Tsechus is a festival celebrated at


Bhutan. It is a very colourful event attracts
visitors from around the world.
Festival of Lanterns, Japan

The Obon Festival is the festival of Japan.


It is a Buddhist festival. The festival is also
known as the "festival of lanterns". Sending
paper lanterns floating along the river is one of
the customs during this festival.

Songkran Festival, Thailand

Songkran is celebrated in Thailand. Thais


celebrate by throwing water at each other and
passers-by in the street. It also marks the end of
the dry season in Thailand.
