THAILAND – LANTERN FESTIVAL

Thai lantern festival known as YI PENG is a holiday


which is celebrated annually on the second month of the
Thai Lanna calendar. This festival is meant to make
Buddhist merit.
The phrase “Thai lanterns” is a western invention-wish
lanterns are properly called KHOM LOY or KHOO.
Releasing a sky lantern is considered good and many
thais believe they are symbolic of problems and worries
floating away.
THAILAND – LANTERN FESTIVAL

The symbolism behind the lanterns can be attributed to


the religious nature of the festival, and the traditional use
of Thai lanterns in the country’s history. The festival of
LHOY KHRATHONG was based on the beliefs of
Brahminism.

They believe that a bright light can lead one out


of darkness in life, and lustrous future.
JAPAN – KODO TAIKO DRUM FESTIVAL

The word KODO conveys two meanings – heartbeat, the


primarily source of all rhythm and read in different way,
the word can mean “Children of the Drum”.

KODO is the most well known and respected taiko


drumming group worldwide and has been considered an
ambassador group of taiko performance outside in Japan.
