With tireless hours coupled with the endless efforts, a teacher draws light into the dark and ensured
that their masterpiece is chiselled to perfection. This art pursued with pure passion is highly celebrated
on the glorious Teachers’ Day. To honour the teachers who have been guided every student’s journey
to new heights, a celebration was conducted by the Student Council.
The Pre-celebrations began with ensuring the invitations were delivered along with a home made
sweet pineapple puff. Firm and steady, these invitations were rolled by hand and tied with ribbons,
resembling a scroll. The preparations went underway at 12 noon as the practice ground of the theatre
department, next to IVY Hall was being arranged with chairs and tables as the venue for the
celebration. The deanery council members formed a pathway to welcome the teachers as soon as they
enter the premises. Once they were finally seated, the programme began with an enchanting musical
performance by Rang. This was followed up with a poetry reading- two poems recited, its’ objective
to be filled with appreciation towards the dedication and handwork with a tinge of wisdom embedded
within. All performances were highly appreciated by the teachers.
The end of the performances marked the beginning of the lunch. The concepts of tradition were
revisited when lunch was served on a plantain leaf. The responsibility of serving was taken up by the
council members as a gesture of respect. With the combination of simple flavours & textures
resembling the different tastes, the meal was complete but that was not all. The celebration ended
with the distribution of a customised diary with the teacher’s name embossed on the cover in a gold
script as a memento, along with a bookmark and a chocolate for a sweet finish.
The key objective was to honour the teachers in the way they’d always cherish- with simplicity. It
was a joy to hear the words of appreciation from the faculty members and thereby, it can be said that
the programme was a success.
