Deflection of Glass

Procedure for calculating the approximate center og glass

deflection (Dalgliesh, A. CGSB 12.20)

q: Uniform lateral load (kPa) 0.96 20.05 psf

a: Long dimension (mm) 3050 120.08 in For IG units under unifrom lateral load both lites will deflect by almost the same amounts. The
deflection is calculated using the load carried by either lite from Table 7 & 8 load share (LS)
b: Short dimension (mm) 1900 74.80 in
factors. The total load divided by the LS factor for either lite gives the approximate load
t: lite thickness 10 0.39 in carried by the lite for deflection calculations.
E: Modulus of elasticity (kPa) 7.17E+07 1.5E+09 ksi
