Friday Facts…
by: Stacie Williams, Director SWDS

February 26, 2010

Thanks…for all of your hard work and creativity in resolving our sign-out
procedures in the afternoon. A special “thanks” to Cindy C. and Diane for their effort
in ensuring all of the children have been signed out as they leave for the day.

On-Site Supervisors...are Diane and Bridgette. Bridgette is On-Site Supervisor in

the morning and Diane is in the afternoon. They are responsible for the daily
operations of the school, including staff supervision, when the director is not
present. If you have any questions or concerns during these times please see either
Bridgette or Diane. I’m very grateful for all of their help and support!

Toddler floater position…Erin Meiburger is our newest employee and she will be
working in the morning in the 3’s and 4’s and at 9:00am she will move to the toddler
rooms as a floater between the two classrooms.

Open Registration…is March 1st at 6:30pm for church members and 7:00pm for the
public. We have had a lot of interest from parents and we are expecting a great
turn-out!

Reminder...to arrive early enough to get your room ready for when parents arrive.
It helps to set the tone for the day.

A special thank you…to Maria for her terrific work with Cindy J’s PK class. We
really appreciate her dedication and willingness to step-in! We look forward to
seeing her around as a sub! Cindy J. will return to work on Monday.

Classroom visits…I have really enjoyed visiting your classrooms! It’s fun to see the
babies moving around and exploring their environment. The toddlers are equally
busy learning new skills and testing their growing abilities! It was great seeing the
2’s refining their motor skills with cutting and painting – look for the new
masterpieces to be displayed soon! The 3’s were have’n a great time with their
rodeo theme! The riding horses were a hit! The 4’s have been busy with Rodeo
week and it was extra neat to see the “trail riders!”

A new fashion accessory…has been given to you from your new director! The
name badges are a great way for parents, visitors, and church staff to identify our
employees. The plastic badge holders will hold your key and name tag. You may
wear the name tag however you wish.

A big thanks to… Cindy J. for bringing her horse to school for the children to see.
The parents really enjoyed seeing the horse, too! Also, we are very grateful to Sarah
Marburger for her help with the laminator! We really appreciate keeping it running
smoothly!

A new recipe…for playdough. Playdough is one of those things that does not
typically have a long shelf life. Here is an easy recipe for playdough that can be used
regularly and is non-toxic!

Materials

% 1 cup water
% 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
% 1/2 cup salt
% 1 tablespoon cream of tartar
% Food coloring
% Saucepan
% 1 cup flour
Directions

1. Combine water, oil, salt, cream of tartar, and food coloring in a saucepan
and heat until warm.
2. Remove from heat and add flour.
3. Stir, then knead until smooth. The cream of tartar makes this dough last
6 months or longer, so resist the temptation to omit this ingredient if
you don't have it on hand.
Store this dough in an airtight container or a Ziploc freezer bag.

A Chinese proverb… “I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I

understand.” When children are acitively involved in the process of learning –
they will remember much more from hands-on and developmentally
appropriate experiences!

Thanks for your hard work everyone! Have a great weekend!
